The video game series features characters of Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2, and Dead Rising 3. Developed by Capcom and designed by Keiji Inafune, who designed Mega Man. Crackle released 2 movies that take place within the continuity of the games Dead Rising: Watchtower, and Dead Rising: Endgame.

Protagonists

Frank West

The protagonist of Dead Rising, Frank West is a freelance photographer and photojournalist who has covered many world events, wars, and other big stories. Looking for the next big scoop, he stumbles onto some strange events happening in the small town of Willamette, Colorado. While not the most polished and professional person in his field, he is strong, genuinely kind and decent, and always operates on instinct. Not your typical journalist, Frank is capable of handling himself in combat and helping other survivors to safety.

Chuck Greene

Voiced by Peter Flemming

Portrayed by Victor Webster (Dead Rising: Endgame)

The main protagonist of Dead Rising 2. He is a former motocross champion and an extremely resourceful mechanic, able to repair and construct anything he can imagine. Chuck is frequently under pressure to find the money to buy Zombrex (a daily medication that suppresses the zombification process) for his daughter Katey, who was bitten by her zombified mother during a previous outbreak in Las Vegas.

In the prequel game Dead Rising 2: Case Zero, Chuck has just escaped Las Vegas with Katey but gets stranded in the zombie-infested town of Still Creek when his truck runs out of fuel and later gets stolen (along with all the Zombrex he had for Katey). Fighting through the zombies and gathering supplies and Zombrex, Chuck is able to build a motorcycle from parts around the town and escapes with Katey.

Three years later, Chuck arrives at Fortune City, Nevada, to take part in Terror Is Reality, a controversial sports entertainment game show where contestants kill zombies for cash prizes. When the show's supply of zombies are released and begin to attack the city, Chuck rescues Katey and makes his way to an emergency shelter, which is sealed after their arrival. Ray Sullivan (the only security guard to reach the shelter alive) is initially reluctant to let Chuck and Katey in, but Chuck promises to keep her supplied with Zombrex until the military arrives in three days. He is then revealed through leaked security footage as being the one who released the zombies, so Chuck sets out out to clear his name with the help of CURE leader, Stacy Forsythe. He eventually learns that the pharmaceutical corporation Phenotrans intentionally started the outbreak to capture "Queens", parasitic wasp-like insects that spread the zombification in their larvae, and develop them into more Zombrex.

In Dead Rising 2: Case West, Chuck travels with Frank West after the events of the Fortune City Outbreak to a Phenotrans research facility. While helping Frank in his investigation, Chuck is able to find the evidence needed to clear his name.

In Dead Rising: Endgame, placed 5 years before Dead Rising 3. Chuck arrives with an helicopter and helps the protagonists to escape.

Ten years after the Fortune City Outbreak, Chuck reappears again in Dead Rising 3. Some time after Case West, Chuck became a major mob boss and used his status as a way to gain access to Zombrex for Katey (whom he refused to register with the government as a legal Infected), though this brought a lot of stress into Chuck's life as he was forced to do things he "wasn't proud of". When Katey ran away two years prior to the Los Perdidos Outbreak, Chuck set out to find her and hireed an associate named Gary to help in the search. Chuck finally reunites with Katey in Los Perdidos during the outbreak and also meets her friend Nick Ramos. Though a little distrusting of Nick, Chuck helps the mechanic fight off General Hemlock's forces before escaping the city with him.

In the Non-Canonical game Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, a re-imagining of Dead Rising 2 with Frank West as the protagonist. Chuck reappears as a Psychopath, and has taken on shabby, long hair and a deeper 5 o'clock shadow. Chuck has descended into insanity after losing Katey during the outbreak. Evidence of this is the doll strapped to the back of Chuck (which resembles Katey, and who Chuck delusively thinks it to be) and a discarded kid's backpack in the Green Room of the Arena. When Frank offers to take him to the Safe House, he accidentally grabs the doll's leg and enrages Chuck into murderous intent. Frank obtains the key to Chuck's bike trailer upon Chuck's defeat, but Chuck himself disappears. Chuck also appears in the game's co-op mode as the second player's character.

Nick Ramos

Voiced by Andrew Lawrence

The protagonist of Dead Rising 3. Nick is an orphan-turned-mechanic who works for Wrench O' Rama in the city of Los Perdidos. While he has excellent mechanical skills, Nick has difficulties formulating plans and acting under pressure. Many details of his life remain a mystery, but a distinctive physical trait is a tattoo of the number 12 on his neck. Despite his shortcomings, Nick is a friendly young man who holds his friends in high regard, especially his boss Rhonda, who is about the closest thing to a mother he knows. Nick also develops a romantic interest in a girl named Annie (later revealed to be Chuck Greene's daughter Katey).

As the story progresses, Nick is revealed to be one of fifty orphan children that Carlito Keyes infected with the zombification virus. However, he was also chosen to be "Patient Zero", the only one immune to the virus and whose blood is a key component in developing a cure for zombification. This makes him a target for Dr. Marian Mallon, who desires Carlito's orphans captured and has put out rewards for their capture.

Antagonists

Carlito Keyes

Voiced by Alex Fernandez

Carlito is one of the main antagonists of the original Dead Rising, alongside his sister Isabela. Both of them are two of the few survivors of the Santa Cabeza Incident, in which parasitic Queens escaped from an American research facility in South America and turned the people of a nearby village into zombies. A military unit led by Brock Mason was sent to destroy Santa Cabeza, and the United States government covered it up by stating that the village was housing a drug cartel.

Knowing the truth about what happened to their family and fellow villagers, Carlito and Isabela have vowed to use the very zombie race against the United States as revenge for destroying their hometown, summoning the zombies' creator Dr. Russell Barnaby to Willamette in hopes of killing him too. As the events in the mall unfold, Carlito proves to be a deranged individual who intends to spread the zombie army he shared with his sister throughout the entire country by detonating bombs filled with Queen larvae into the air. After multiple encounters with Frank West, Carlito is wounded beyond all hopes of saving and dies. In his last breath, he compares the zombies' ravenous hunger to America's insatiable greed and laughs. In the end, Carlito's name would be forever remembered and reviled for his actions. He is mentioned in Dead Rising 2 when Stacey Forsythe tells Chuck that he was the terrorist taking revenge for a government experiment that caused the zombie issue to begin with.

In Dead Rising 3, Carlito is revealed to have injected fifty orphans and had them sent to adoptive families all over the United States in the hopes of spreading the zombie pandemic further. This is followed upon in Dead Rising 3, as multiple outbreaks caused by them (such as the Smithville Outbreak in 2007, the first major outbreak to occur after Willamette) showed that Carlito's plan somewhat worked. It is also revealed that Carlito, not wanting the zombie force to be beyond control, made one orphan immune: the game's main protagonist Nick Ramos. Nick was eventually tracked down by his sister Isabela, and the cure was created after the Los Perdidos Outbreak.

WatchMojo.com listed Carlito Keyes as the 4th best Capcom villain, citing his responsibility for spreading zombies across the United States.

Brock Mason

Voiced by Gregg Berger

Appearing in Dead Rising as the final boss and main antagonist of Overtime Mode, Brock Mason is a Special Forces leader who led the zombie cleanup operation on Santa Cabeza, and has been dispatched to Willamette to do the same. Brock has no regard for the people killed in Santa Cabeza, nor in Willamette, seeing the outbreaks as nothing but a mission that needs to be fulfilled whatever the cost. He initially attacks from behind the controls of his tank as Frank and Isabela fight back on a gun-mounted jeep. After they disable it, Mason crashes his tank into the jeep and Frank is forced to fight the cruel soldier with no weapons or items. Mason is killed when Frank knocks him off the top of his tank and into the hordes of zombies waiting below, where he is torn apart by the undead beings.

Adam the Clown

Voiced by John Kassir

In Dead Rising and Chop Till You Drop Adam MacIntyre (also known as Adam the Clown) is a psychopath who was a clown performer presumably hired to entertain children who became insane after the zombie outbreak killed and ate all the children and their parents. In both games he prevents Frank from stopping the Space Rider roller coaster as the noise it made kept the zombies away. He then starts attacking Frank with his two mini chainsaws. After his defeat Adam laughed maniacally as he fell over into his two chainsaws. He died convulsing in laughter as the chainsaws ripped his stomach apart. After retrieving the key card from his body, Frank rescued a mall employee, a janitor named Greg Simpson, from the ride.

In Dead Rising 2 Off The Record it is revealed he has a brother named Evan who sells ice cream and travels around on stilts. After recognizing Frank West he attacked him in revenge for killing his brother but failed and got killed in the process.

Adam MacIntyre has been ranked as the 4th most insane video game character by Complex, whom opined "The chainsaw tossing nutjob/boss in Dead Rising who makes the Killer Klownz from Outer Space look like Vince Carter after getting a hard foul."

Tyrone "TK" King

Voiced by Daren A. Herbert

TK is the notorious host and producer of the equally controversial, but insanely popular, pay-per-view game show "Terror Is Reality" sponsored by Zombrex. TK has no qualms about killing zombies for entertainment. Always on the look out for the next big business opportunity, it's all about money for TK. He is generally accompanied by the twins, Amber Bailey and Crystal Bailey, his two co-hostesses and bodyguards.

In both Dead Rising 2 and Off The Record, TK is the main antagonist, having started the zombie outbreak on behalf of Phenotrans. However, he instead turns on Phenotrans and uses the outbreak as a cover to rob Fortune City's casinos and flee the city. After being foiled by Chuck/Frank, TK is eventually captured and held prisoner in the safehouse, and he is later bitten by a zombie during the security breach. Canonically, in the climax of Dead Rising 2 and the opening of Case West, TK is not given any Zombrex, succumbs to zombification, and proceeds to attack Chuck in the safehouse elevator while trying to retrieve Katey's backpack, only to be killed for good by Frank West.

Choosing to give TK a Zombrex dose after he gets infected will trigger the Overtime scenario after the end of the main story, in which TK takes hostages (Stacey and Katey for Chuck, Rebecca for Frank) and uses them to blackmail Chuck/Frank into collecting various items for him throughout Fortune City. Once Chuck/Frank delivers the items to the arena, TK appears as the final boss and is killed when Chuck/Frank knocks him from the rafters to the ground below.

Amber and Crystal Bailey

Voiced by Heather Doerksen (Amber) and Lara Gilchrist (Crystal)

Appearing in Dead Rising 2, Amber and Crystal (commonly known as The Twins) serve as both hostesses of Terror is Reality and bodyguards of Tyrone King. Amber, a blonde haired woman in a golden dress, and Crystal, a black haired woman in a silver dress, provide nice eye candy as well as some taunting for the contestants.

Some time after the outbreak, Amber and Crystal capture a news reporter, Rebecca and hold her hostage; it is revealed that the sisters were the source of the tape blaming the zombie outbreak on Chuck. When Chuck arrives to meet Rebecca, the twins attack him and he has no choice but to fight back. After defeating either Amber or Crystal, the other sister runs to the body of the fallen sister and proclaims that she cannot live without her "other half". Chuck watches as the sister prepares to stab herself through the abdomen and dies shortly after. Both girls play largely the same role in Dead Rising 2: Off The Record.

Amber and Crystal Bailey have both been ranked as the 46th hottest video game character by Complex, whom commented "Amber and Crystal are hot twin sisters who serve as nothing more than eye candy and emasculating innuendo." They have also been considered the 47th most annoying video game character by Complex by citing their difficult, samurai-styled, boss fight.

Raymond Sullivan

Voiced by Phil Hayes

Raymond Sullivan is the security officer in charge of the Fortune City Emergency Shelter, and is responsible for making sure that nobody who is infected gets inside the shelter. He initially prevents Chuck Greene and his daughter, Katey, from entering the shelter when he sees the bite scar on Katey's arm, but Chuck manages to convince him to let them in by showing him a box of Zombrex, which is later revealed to be empty. Sullivan also does not believe Chuck's claim of innocence about causing the outbreak, but agrees to allow Chuck and Katey to stay in the shelter as long as Chuck continues to save survivors and provide Katey with Zombrex, though he won't save Chuck if he can't prove his innocence by the time the military gets to Fortune City.

When Chuck and Rebecca Chang learn that Phenotrans, the company which produces Zombrex, is responsible for the outbreak and is planning to make contact by a Satellite Phone, Sullivan shoots her in the head, killing her instantly. He then reveals that he has he been working on behalf of Phenotrans and leaves Chuck and the others to die in the military's impending firebombing of the city. When Chuck confronts him and condemns Phenotrans for its greed, Sullivan mocks Chuck for his short-sightedness and claims that the outbreaks are a necessary sacrifice to protect the American people and their way of life from the zombie pandemic. After a long battle between them, Sullivan orders his AC-130 escape craft to fire on Chuck as he activates his skyhook for extraction. Chuck handcuffs the waist of Sullivan's harness to a railing as the AC-130 snags the skyhook, tearing him in half.

In Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Sullivan largely plays the same role in running the safe house and is initially distrusting of Frank on account of his own infection. A major difference in Sullivan's role is that his original position as the Phenotrans plant has been recast to Stacey, who shoots him dead after she is exposed as the spy.

Marian Mallon

Voiced by Jacqueline Samuda (Dead Rising 2: Case West), Kathleen Garrett (Dead Rising 3)

First appearing in Dead Rising 2: Case West as the main antagonist, Marian Mallon is the cold-hearted Director of the Phenotrans corporation and boss to her unwilling employee Isabela Keyes. It is implied that she is responsible for orchestrating the Fortune City outbreak so as to farm the wasp "Queens" needed to develop Zombrex. Newspapers in her office identify her as being an esteemed doctor in bionetics and as a survivor of a zombie attack that has since left her crippled and with bite wounds on her left cheek.

Chuck Greene and Frank West meet Dr. Mallon shortly after reuniting with Isabela in the Phenotrans research facility. Dr. Mallon boasts to Chuck and Frank that thanks to Isabela's partnership and research, she has discovered a permanent cure to zombification and has used it all on herself, thus eliminating all need for Zombrex. Afterwards, she declares that humanity does not deserve such a cure and escapes the facility along with Isabela before it self-destructs.

Marian reappears in Dead Rising 3. Her previous boast about having a cure being false, Marian demands that "Patient Zero" be found and has put out bounties for the capture of Carlito's orphans. Despite having no prior issues with starting outbreaks, however, Marian shows hesitation on Isabela's idea of spreading the zombie pandemic to Los Perdidos in order to draw out Patient Zero, but goes through with it and establishes a research outpost. During Overtime Mode, she is later betrayed and killed by General Hemlock after he pushes her off the roof of a building.

Harjit Singh

Voiced by Haroon Khan

Harjit Singh is a giant Indian man who appears in Dead Rising 2: Case West as the final boss. He is the chief of security of the Phenotrans research facility and Dr. Mallon's personal bodyguard. Singh is killed when Chuck and Frank knock him into a holding tank of Queens that rapidly sting him to death.

John Hemlock

Voiced by Robert Craighead

A General and the main antagonist in Dead Rising 3, Hemlock works for President Sonya Paddock and seems to be romantically involved with Marian Mallon, but he considers the idea that a possibility to completely cure someone that has been infected is a "myth". Seeking to overthrow the current regime and throw the United States into martial law, Hemlock sends his Special Forces into Los Perdidos to gather all evidence of his plans and eliminate all survivors.

In Overtime Mode, Hemlock kills Marian and deploys his forces to capture "king zombies", a powerful new mutation of the zombie virus, so that he can use them as a biological weapon. After Nick stops the harvest and shoots down his craft, Hemlock fights him and dies after Nick kicks him into still spinning plane's rotor.

Sgt. Hilde Schmittendorf

Voiced by Diane Delano

A sergeant under Hemlock's command, Hilde is sent to clean up Los Perdidos of any survivors. When Nick enters the police station, he hears Hilde talking to a few soldiers regarding the security camera footage of a man carrying his injured wife into the station and asks for help. Once Hilde confirms that there are no other survivors with the man, she orders the soldier to shoot the woman and snaps the man's neck.

Not believing that she could kill innocent people so casually, Nick comes out and confronts Hilde, sparking a battle through the police station as Hilde and her soldiers fight back. She is killed when Nick tackles her out of a window, killing Hilde on impact as her body cushions Nick's landing.

Ronald Jackson

Ronald Jackson, or going by the name "Red", is a survivor in Los Perdidos and Annie's ex-boyfriend. Red leads and protects a band of infected survivors through the city.

Red is first introduced when Nick gains access to the Los Perdidos Communications Tower while searching for Annie. Instead, he finds Red, who immediately shoots at him. Annie shows up and defuses the situation, although Red and Annie remains suspicious of Nick after finding out that he came to find Annie for Gary. Nick immediately regrets coming to find Annie and decides to try to help Red and Annie instead. Red explains that the government is killing survivors instead of saving them, then asks Nick to do some work around the city by destroying government equipment and gathering video evidence off of the security cameras in town to earn the group's trust.

Near the end of the main storyline, Red kidnaps Annie and uses her to lure Nick into a trap. Having discovered the $5 million bounty placed on Nick's head, Red betrays his fellow Illegals so he can cash in, but he is killed by Annie, who crushes him with a large container.

Hunter Thibodeaux

The leader of a Los Perdidos biker gang known as the Kings of Chaos and an early Psychopath boss. He is the protagonist of the third Untold Tales DLC episode, "Chaos Rising". Having been betrayed and thrown in prison, Hunter breaks out during the outbreak and begins a one-man campaign to take over the Kings of Chaos by killing Spider, the one who betrayed him and now leads the gang. Hunter ultimately kills Spider and takes over the Kings of Chaos, though his reign becomes short-lived when he challenges Nick and is killed.

Dead Rising characters

Brad Garrison

Voiced by T. J. Storm

An agent working for the DHS. Brad is a gruff, no nonsense and by the-book player who reluctantly fights alongside Frank West throughout the story. Under duress, he always falls back on the company line and treats everyone he first meets as a potential threat that is not to be trusted. Despite his misgivings, Brad uses his intuition and expertise in the field to always stay cool and calm under extreme pressure.

While tracking Carlito Keyes in the underground tunnels as Frank searches for his bombs, Brad is injured badly and locked out, separated from Carlito and surrounded by a large number of zombies. Frank later finds the mortally wounded agent, slowly succumbing to the zombie infection and pleading to Frank to not tell Jessie, before he finally turns.

Jessica "Jessie" McCarney

Voiced by Laura Napoli

Brad's rookie partner of the DHS, she is assigned with Brad Garrison to the Willamette incident to find Dr. Barnaby and escort him out of the mall. She is charged with watching the monitors for information on the people responsible for the outbreak. Like Brad, she is initially distrustful of Frank, and patronizes him for being a civilian, but this cool attitude fades after Frank proves himself, notably by saving Brad's life. Jessie is bitten by the infected Dr. Barnaby during interrogation, but she keeps this a secret from everybody. She finally turns into a zombie when the military arrives to question her.

Otis Washington

An elderly mall janitor that appears in Dead Rising. Otis tries in vain to stop Frank from chasing Brad back into the mall, and winds up handing over a map and spare transceiver. Over the course of the game, Otis will call Frank to inform him of possible survivors hiding in the mall. However, he will scold Frank if his call gets cut off. After the Special Forces arrives, Otis vanishes and leaves a note to Frank in the Security Office, stating that he stole a helicopter and escaped the mall.

In Dead Rising 3, a funeral service for Otis can be seen in the morgue.

Den of Geek listed Otis Washington as one of the most annoying video game characters, citing his constant calls, by stating "Unfortunately for Frank, the sense of omnipotence brought on by seeing everything going on in the mall, while having a human puppet to command, seems to drive Otis completely insane; he buzzes on the transceiver every few minutes to fill Frank in on the numerous happenings around the mall, and gets all indignant when Frank has to cut off in the middle of his wafflings to fight off the hordes of ferocious flesh munchers." WatchMojo.com ranked Otis as 3rd worst NPC in a video game, commenting "The persistent ringing is usually annoying enough, but what’s worse is that if you need to stop the conversation to take care of some zombies, he'll chadidise you for hanging up on him."

Isabela Keyes

Voiced by Kim Mai Guest (Dead Rising), Venus Terzo (Dead Rising 2: Case West), Veronica Diaz (Dead Rising 3)

Isabela Keyes is a supporting character for the majority of the series, the younger sister of Carlito, and one of few survivors of the Santa Cabeza incident. Very little is known about her, but she claims to be a medical technician, shown by her ability to create a suppressant for the zombie parasite and eventually a cure in Dead Rising 3.

In Dead Rising, Isabela starts off as one of the main antagonists alongside Carlito, aiding him in using the zombies that the Americans made against them to avenge Santa Cabeza's destruction, but later has a change of heart and joins forces with Frank West after realizing how insane her brother truly was. When Special Forces are ordered to clean up the mall, Isabela believes the events of Santa Cabeza will repeat. Though she doesn't go with Frank to the helipad, she saves Frank after his helicopter rescue fails in Ending A and takes him to Carlito's hideout where she reveals he is now infected. After developing a temporary suppressant for Frank's infection using Queens, Isabela and Frank attempt to escape the mall through a zombie-filled tunnel guarded by the military, though their plan is halted when Brock Mason arrives in his tank.

Isabela is mentioned by Stacey Forsythe in Dead Rising 2 as helping Frank West develop the first form of Zombrex, but she doesn't appear in the story. However, Isabela appears in Dead Rising 2: Case West as Frank West's mystery source, guiding him and Chuck Greene through the Phenotrans facility before revealing herself at the end. She explains that after Brock's defeat, Isabela was arrested for terrorism, but was given the option of working for Phenotrans as opposed to going to prison. Instead, Phenotrans stole all her research and used it to develop Zombrex, then triggered more zombie outbreaks in Las Vegas and Fortune City to provide the Queens needed for its mass-production. Isabela attempts to give Chuck and Frank a flash drive containing incriminating evidence before attempting to escape, but she is caught and the drive is destroyed by Harjit Singh. She is then dragged out of the facility before it self-destructs.

Isabela reappears again in Dead Rising 3. When a zombie outbreak spreads to Los Perdidos, Isabela arrives in search of a missing element to the zombie cure: a blood sample from "Patient Zero", which is revealed to be Nick Ramos. Isabela works against Marion Mallon in the game to get Nick and create the cure herself. However, it is later revealed that she worked with Marian to purposely start the outbreak in Los Perdidos and flush out Patient Zero, her motive being to take all the credit for finding the cure and to clear her family's cursed name. After the deaths of both Marian and Hemlock, Isabela destroys the video footage containing this conversation between her and Marian and proudly leaves the laboratory where it was found, knowing that her very sibling burden is finally gone for good.

Dr. Russell Barnaby

Voiced by Phil Proctor

A ruthless genetic researcher, Dr. Barnaby was the head of the research team stationed at Santa Cabeza. Originally seeking a way to mass-produce cattle to keep up with America's growing demand for meat, Dr. Barnaby discovered the wasp species known as "Queens" and tried to incorporate their unique parasitic properties into his research. However, when one of the Queens escapes into Santa Cabeza, the U.S. government is sent in to destroy the area, and Dr. Barnaby is ordered by the military to speak nothing of his research.

After being tricked by two Santa Cabeza survivors, Carlito and Isabela Keyes, to come to Willamette, Dr. Barnaby is captured and left to the zombies when they invade the mall, but is rescued by Frank West. At first, Dr. Barnaby is reluctant to speak, but when asked about Santa Cabeza, he quickly claims that it was a terrorist refuge since destroyed. However, upon realizing that he has been infected, Dr. Barnaby is forced to admit the truth of his research before he turns into a zombie and is killed.

Ed DeLuca

Voiced by Dave Wittenberg

The helicopter pilot who delivered Frank to Willamette, scheduled to return in three days to retrieve Frank in return for getting a cut of the take from Frank's story. However, Ed is killed when in his haste to pick up Frank, he is attacked by a zombie that had snuck into his helicopter and ends up crashing into the clock tower in the middle of the mall. His crash then reveals a hidden cavern underneath the mall, which Frank and Isabela journey into.

Dead Rising 2 characters

Katey Ann Greene (Annie)

Voiced by Allyson Armstrong (Dead Rising 2), Shelby Young (Dead Rising 3)

The daughter of former motocross champion Chuck Greene. Katey was bitten and infected by her zombified mother, which is the reason Chuck fights so hard for the money to buy Zombrex and prevent her from turning into a zombie. During the events of Dead Rising 2 and its prequel story Case Zero, Chuck must gather Zombrex during his travels so that he can keep her human.

Ten years later in Dead Rising 3, Katey is now a teenager and going by her middle name "Annie", but is still infected and still requires Zombrex. She's been labeled as an "Illegal", a person that is infected that hasn't been implanted with a microchip to be located and given Zombrex to prevent turning. Katey had left her father two years before the events of the game, feeling that she's become a burden to him due to the pressure of keeping her unregistered and finding Zombrex. She now currently travels with her ex-boyfriend Red, who leads a group of Illegals throughout the zombie-infested city of Los Perdidos. Before the events of the game, Katey met Nick Ramos after she saved him while escaping from a horde of zombies, but she vanishes when the zombies breach the diner they are hiding in. Nick reunites with Annie at several points in the story, and the two of them begin to show a small romantic interest in each other. Annie also reunites with her father Chuck, and her full name and relationship to him is revealed.

In Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Katey is implied to have either been killed or zombified, due to her bag being left next to a bloody pool in the green room, probably hinting she never hid in a wardrobe when the zombies broke into the green room as she did in the main game, thus driving her father into insanity. During Frank's encounter with Chuck, the former motocross star has taped a doll to his back and treats her as if she was the real Katey.

Katie (as "Annie") is one of the four playable characters in the Super Ultra Dead Rising 3' Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX plus α DLC, alongside the other three Dead Rising protagonists: Frank West, Chuck Greene, and Nick Ramos.

Rebecca Chang

A beautiful, ambitious Asian-American news reporter from "Channel 6 Action News" is seen in Fortune City to cover the controversy surrounding "Terror Is Reality". When the zombies overtake the city, she sees it as her big chance to uncover what's behind the outbreak and get her hands on the scoop of the century. She is fame-hungry, but she is also extremely courageous and confident, oblivious to the danger. She is the one who reports the alleged involvement of the Fortune City outbreak by Chuck Greene. She then works with Chuck to uncover the truth in exchange for covering the story. During this time it's implied her and Chuck have a romantic interest in the other as they continually flirt with each other and make suggestive remarks. After Chuck reveals that Phenotrans is the one behind the outbreak, Rebecca attempts to call for help from the newscast to pick up her and the survivors, but is shot in the head and killed by Raymond Sullivan, who is revealed to be a Phenotrans agent. In Case West, Frank mentions to Chuck that Rebecca was originally going to investigate the Phenotrans Facility with him.

In Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Rebecca does not know Frank directly, but mentions that she was once a fan of his. When the evidence proves that Phenotrans is behind the outbreak, both Raymond and Rebecca are shot by Stacey Forsythe, who is the Phenotrans spy in Frank's version of the story. In Overtime Mode, Rebecca is revealed to be alive but injured and held captive by TK. After beating TK and throwing him over the edge, Frank carries an injured Rebecca out of the arena.

Stacey Forsythe

Voiced by Robyn Ross

Stacey Forsythe is the head of the controversial zombie rights group CURE (Citizens for Undead Rights and Equality). She believes that the Terror Is Reality show is cruel and demeaning to infected survivors everywhere, and leads protests with the aim of getting it taken off the air, and making Zombrex available and affordable for all. She is in Fortune City with other protesters displaying opposition to the "Terror is Reality" event when the outbreak starts, and she successfully escapes into the Safe House. Stacey is an ally to Chuck Greene, offering to protect Chuck's daughter as she watches the monitors in the shelter and informs Chuck of the locations of survivors throughout the city. She also mentions to Chuck that she had a sister, who was infected with the zombie disease and had to take Zombrex everyday like Katey. However, due to the constant usage of the drug and the stress it put on her, she decided to let herself turn.

In Dead Rising 3, it is revealed that there was a relationship between Chuck and Stacey, but that it didn't end well and Katey never forgave him for it.

In Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, Stacey's role in the storyline is significantly revised. Rebecca Chang runs footage of a CURE member placing a bomb (previously given to him by TK) onto one of the zombie security pens. CURE is instantly blamed for the entire fiasco, and Stacey's picture is shown during the broadcast. Frank accuses Stacey of causing the outbreak, but Stacey denies this and claims that TK must have planted him inside to do his dirty work. Frank believes Stacey and heads out to find the truth. When Rebecca and Frank learn that Phenotrans is behind the outbreak, Stacey shoots both Rebecca Chang and Raymond Sullivan (killing the latter), revealing that she has been working with Phenotrans the whole time as a plant codenamed "Agent S". Frank wrestles her to the ground, but Stacey manages to get away, leaving her red wig behind. Frank later confronts Stacey in Uranus Zone, where she attacks Frank with a giant robot built from various theme park machines. Frank disables the robot and defeats Stacey, who is crushed by her own weapon when it collapses on top of her.

WatchMojo.com ranked the Stacey Forsythe boss fight in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record as the 3rd most ridiculous boss fight in video games.

Dead Rising 3 characters

Rhonda Kreske

Rhonda is Nick's boss who runs the auto shop Wrench O' Rama where they both work, and is a quick thinker with a "do or die" attitude. She often calls Nick "honey" or "sweetie" and acts as a mother figure to Nick. She was once married to Gary Finkel.

When the diner they are using as a safe house gets attacked by zombies, Rhonda recommends that they go to her garage in Ingleton, which becomes the main safe house. She then travels with Nick and Dick to the Quarantine Station and is ambushed by a group of thugs seeking to sexually assault her, but Rhonda manages to overpower the men and hide while Nick deals with the remaining thugs and their leader Hunter.

After Nick gets bitten, Rhonda tells him to go to the morgue to get Zombrex, as morgues will always carry an emergency supply, while she goes with Diego to investigate a broken-down airplane that could get them out of the city once repaired.

Rhonda is later captured and tortured by General Hemlock's soldiers, who amputate her left arm. Nick arrives just in time to help her stop the bleeding with the help of a first aid kit, then makes and replaces her missing arm with a crude prosthetic (with a flamethrower built in on her request). Nick also helps Rhonda reunite with Gary, and the two of them decide to stay in Los Perdidos to aid any other survivors.

Dick Baker

Dick is a truck driver who stops in Los Perdidos and gets trapped there due to the current outbreak happening at the time. He travels alongside Nick, Annie and Rhonda. He serves as a sort of "comic relief" and is described as a "wisecracker" who sees Nick as his best way of escaping Los Perdidos. In co-op mode, Dick is the second playable character, though he appears in storyline cutscenes regardless of whether or not the game is played in co-op.

Diego Martinez

Appearing in Dead Rising 3, Diego is Nick's best friend. He is also one of Carlito's Orphans and has a 49 tattoo on his neck.

The two first meet on the Los Perdidos Bridge, by which he doesn't recognize Nick until later on and the two friends reunite. Diego tells Nick about the museum that he and his squad were holed up in. He and his unit were supposed to protect the President, but when things got overwhelming, Diego ran away. He feels a tremendous amount of guilt for abandoning his duties. Diego tells Nick about an airplane in the museum that he might be able to fix in order to get out of the city. Diego and Rhonda join up and leave Nick to go to the museum.

Diego is later seen having a nervous breakdown, and Nick tries to defuse the situation. Afterwards, Dick notices that Nick and Diego have similar tattoos. Nick explains that the two were in several different fosters homes together growing up, and that neither of them have any idea how their tattoos got there. Both Nick and Diego are later captured by Marian Mallon. Marian shoots Diego with a beam that causes the dormant Queens in his body to emerge, killing him.

Sonya Paddock

The president of the United States in "Dead Rising 3", Sonya gets stuck inside the city Los Perdidos as apart of General Hemlock's plan. Diego first mentions that his squad were in Los Perdidos to protect the president during the outbreak. While the rest of his squad were killed defending her, Diego fled and feels immensely guilty for his decision. She is revealed to be held captive by the Special Forces and Marian Mallon. General Hemlock orders the soldiers holding her to infect her with the zombie virus, stating that "they need a body". After she turns, Hemlock orders that a video be taken of her while she eats somebody, and she is then disposed of by Adam Kane. Her death is later announced over the radio.

Sonya is a parody of the real life Alaskan governor Sarah Palin, as the character is also from Alaska and bares similar traits to Palin, with glasses and dark hair pulled back into a bun.

Gary Finkel

Gary is a mobster that works at the Diamond Panty club and bar. He is an ex-wrestler and was once married to Rhonda.

He first meets Nick at St. Keith's Memorial Grounds and asks to assist him in finding a dead body at the morgue so that he can bring it to his boss at the club, by which he will then return the favor by finding Nick Zombrex for his bite. He also shows Nick that killing Queens will also kill the surrounding zombies. After Nick and Gary find the corpse in the morgue, Nick helps him deliver the corpse to the club.

When Gary's boss discovers that the corpse is not who he is looking for, Gary ask that Nick bring him Annie in exchange for fuel that Nick requires for the airplane. He secretly follows Nick to where Annie is hiding, feeling that Nick couldn't bring himself to turn Annie in. Gary then finds the Illegals' hideout and holds Nick, Red and Annie at gunpoint. He attempts to abduct Annie, but Special Forces soldiers show up and take Gary, Annie and a few of the other Illegals away. Red and Nick devise a plan to get into the military compound to rescue their friends. Once Nick breaks in and frees Annie, Gary and the other Illegals, Gary once again attempts to abduct Annie but is stopped by Nick. Gary disappears again, in hot pursuit of Annie.

Later, Nick helps Gary restores his relationship with Rhonda, and the two stay behind in Los Perdidos to assist the evacuation of any remaining survivors.

Jamie Flynt

Appearing in Dead Rising 3, Jamie Flynt is a janitor in Los Perdidos who locked himself in a ZDC surveillance room when the outbreak started. Able to watch over the entire city, he is able to contact Nick through a ZDC emergency scanner he finds and inform him of any events going on, similar to Otis and Stacey from the previous Dead Rising games. He is never met directly.

In a series of optional events only accessible through the Xbox SmartGlass application, Jamie asks that Nick help him get revenge on the ZDC for "chipping his brother" by doing personal tasks such as delivering a truck of poisoned Zombrex to him and deleting data from police records. However, it is revealed by Brad Park that Jamie is actually a conman who deals in illegal Zombrex and has been manipulating Nick to supply him with more merchandise.

Jamie is the narrator of the Untold Tales of Los Perdidos DLC and recaps four key events from the perspectives of other people in Los Perdidos. At the end of all four episodes, Jamie burns down the surveillance room and leaves.

Adam Kane

A soldier serving under General Hemlock. He is a Psychopath boss killed by Nick Ramos and one of the four protagonists in the Untold Tales of Los Perdidos DLC, titled "Operation Broken Eagle". He has been sent to Los Perdidos to kill any and all survivors, including President Paddock for "going too soft" on Illegals. Conflicted between his duty and his common sense, Kane performs his duties, but chooses not to destroy the incriminating evidence of Hemlock's crimes. He is then sent to fight Nick and is both badly wounded and infected, surviving just long enough to give the evidence to ZDC Agent Brad Park before shooting himself.

Angel Quijano

An Illegal and the protagonist of the second episode of the Untold Tales DLC, "Fallen Angel". Foul-mouthed and frequently drunk, Angel nonetheless shows deep concern for her fellow Illegals and her best friend Doug as she moves through the city to find supplies and help survivors. In order to draw the military's attention away from the rest of the Illegals, Angel tricks the soldiers into coming to a hotel, where she is killed in a violent shootout. Her corpse is later found by Nick and Rhonda.

Brad Park

A ZDC Agent and the protagonist of the fourth episode of the Untold Tales DLC, "The Last Agent". As Nick completes the optional SmartGlass missions during the main game, Jamie frequently tells him of Brad and demands that he be killed. When Nick finds Brad, heavily wounded from zombies, he gives the agent Zombrex but angrily blames him for killing innocent people. Confused to Nick's claim, Brad sets out to uncover the truth and witnesses the many crimes carried out by Hemlock and his forces. He later receives the evidence against Hemlock from Adam Kane and arranges for a helicopter to airlift him and the remaining survivors (including Gary and Rhonda) out of Los Perdidos.

General reception

In IGN's review of Dead Rising 3, regarding the game's psychopaths, Dan Stapleton stated "They aren't all that impressively designed, but they are the most interesting and grotesque villains," citing characters like Albert Contiello and Darlene Fleischermacher.
