The following is a list of accidents, incidents, and deaths related to gender reveal parties. The woman credited with starting this posted online asking people to stop it due to how many accidents were caused by it.[1]
Property damage[edit]
- April 2017, Arizona sawmill fire, was started when a target filled with Tannerite was shot. The resulting fire burned over 45,000 acres, caused over $8 million of property damage, and over 100 people had to be evacuated.[2] The offender pled guilty to misdemeanor violation of U.S. Forest Service regulations, was sentenced to 5 years probation, and ordered to pay restitution of $8,188,069.[3]
- 18 April 2018, Gold Coast, Queensland, a car caught fire while the driver was performing a burnout. The driver was arrested for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.[4]
- December 2018, Meningie, South Australia, a car caught fire while the driver was performing a burnout.[5]
Injuries[edit]
- 7 September 2019, Turkey, Texas, a crop duster stalled and crashed while dropping 625 gallons of pink water. The passenger was injured.[6]
Deaths[edit]
- 26 October 2019, Knoxville, Iowa, an expectant grandmother was killed by an explosive device.[7]
- September 2020, El Dorado Fire, a firefighter was killed[8] by a wildfire started by a "smoke generating device".[9] The fire burnt over 22,000 acres, damaged or destroyed 24 buildings, and required residents of Oak Glen, Yucaipa, Mountain Home Village, Forest Falls, and Angelus Oaks to be evacuated.[10]
- 6 February 2021, Genesee County, Michigan, a person was killed by shrapnel from a cannon firing.[11][12]
- 21 February 2021, Liberty, New York, an expectant father was killed while building an explosive device. His brother, Michael Pekny, was injured.[13]

- January 2017, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, a person was fined $1000 for detonating explosives without a valid permit.[14][15]
- 8 October 2018, Boardman, Ohio, approximately 20 guests attending a gender reveal party at a branch of Applebee's refused to clear up blue confetti. One worker was assaulted and police were called.[16]
- 4 April 2019, Sydney, a driver performing burnouts had his car impounded by police. Four people were arrested.[17]
- 26 October 2019, Waukee, Iowa, unconfirmed reports of broken windows from an explosion caused by a "tannerite gender reveal boom box kit".[18][19]
- 20 December 2020, England, boxer Frazer Clarke held a gender reveal party, in contravention of COVID-19 restrictions.[20]
- January 2021, Swansea, Wales, guests attending a gender reveal party, in contravention of Welsh COVID-19 restrictions, were issued fines by police[21]
