This is a partial list of animals attracting such interest as to have been given human names, listed by common habitat. Naming wild animals is a form of anthropomorphism which has attracted debate amongst wildlife conservation circles.[1]
Land based creatures[edit]
- Osama bin Laden (elephant)
- Fred (baboon), an aggressive baboon in South Africa.
- Robinson Crusoe (baboon),[2] marooned on a small island surrounded by crocodiles.
