Lit-X
Lit-X is a German start-up that offers data and AI services to book publishers. The company was founded in 2023 by Lars Leipson and Sebastian Hermanns. Its main office is in Hamburg, Germany. Lit-X has been part of the MediaLift Accelerator[1] program by NextMedia Hamburg and the ContentShift[2] competition by the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels.
The services offered focus around three use cases: Trend Scouting, Price Setting, Marketing Optimization.
Trend Scouting allows book publishers to improve their existing processes around identification and validation of manuscripts to publish. They can, e.g., search the U.S. market, search for titles that have grown most in success in the past month and validate their findings using social media and search engine data.
Price Setting allows book publishers to define a unique comparison group based on publisher, author or title and get a product variant (hard cover, soft cover, ebook, audiobook) specific price distribution over time for it. Based on this, own titles can be strategically priced, pricing can be adjusted to a book’s life cycle and in dependency of its competitive positioning, and price change effects can be validated using a revenue vs. price estimation.
Marketing Optimization helps book publishers to monitor where in social media their authors or titles are mentioned, it helps to identify suitable influencers to push their new titles to and it helps to estimate the paid and organic reach of their influencer campaigns.
