From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki
Live at the Fireside Bowl (a.k.a. the VML Live Series) was a series of live albums/live EPs showcasing US punk bands.
Beginning in the mid-1990s, these were recorded by VML Records (a label owned by The Vindictives) and often re-released by Liberation Records.
Albums[edit]
Releases in the series include:
- Against All Authority -- Live at the Fireside Bowl (recorded 1995, released 2003 by Liberation)
- Swingin' UtterS -- Live at the Fireside Bowl (1995) [1]
- The Casualties -- More at the Fireside Bowl (2003 (Liberation release)) [2]
- Anti-Flag -- Live at the Fireside Bowl (2000 (Liberation release)) [3]
- Boris The Sprinkler -- Live at the Fireside Bowl 11/1/96 (1997)
In the liner notes to the Against All Authority release, VML Records wrote:
“ | The purpose of the VML Live Series is to preserve samples of some of the great live shows that are consistently taking place in the independent music scene. What you hear on a V.M. Live release is from the audiences' perspective. The reason for this is that we believe that a "good show" is at least 50% audience member interaction; so when we record our aim is to capture the energy of the room, rather than just plugging into the board. Microphones are placed in the midst of the crowd and connected to a portable DAT recorder and allowed simply to roll. We feel that a live recording should make you wish that you were there. Of course, this leaves us at the mercy of drunk soundmen, crappy P.A. systems, road weary bands and other hazards. | ” |
