Living (Christianity)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

In the Church of England a priest was able in the past, by patronage, to hold several preferments at one time.[1]

This was called a living. The actual work was allocated to a curate at a minimal salary.[2] Authors such as Anthony Trollope highlighted the injustice of this practice and it is no longer permissible.
