LoCo Motion Pictures
LoCo Motion Pictures is a media production company based in Toronto, Canada. It was founded by producer and former entertainment lawyer Lauren Corber.[1] following her graduation from the Canadian Film Centre's Cineplex Entertainment Film Program Producers' Lab media incubator; Corber is also an alumna of the National Screen Institute's Totally Television program.
The company has produced a variety of film and television projects, several of which have been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival among others; it is best known for its CBC Television short-form comedy series My 90-Year-Old Roommate (2016-2018) and How to Buy a Baby (2017) and the children's educational series Detention Adventure (2019),[2] one of the first children's shows to screen on CBC's new streaming service CBC Gem.[3]
In 2018, the LoCo Motion project How to Buy a Baby, a "comedy about infertility", was nominated for an International Emmy Award, though it lost to the Chilean series Una Historia Necesaria (The Suspended Mourning).[4] However, the series won two awards at the International Academy of Web Television awards in 2018 and Best Comedy at the Indie Series Awards,[5][6] as well as a Canadian Screen Awards laurel for Best Fiction Web Program or Series in March 2019.[7][8]
