Loccit
Loccit was a Bristol-based start-up founded in 2010 by entrepreneurs Luke Aikman and Fraser Wood. It developed technology to preserve a user's "digital footprint". Loccit was developing services across web and mobile platforms (including iPhone and Android).
Winners of the Technium Challenge 2010
In July 2010, Loccit won the Technium Challenge UK (est. 2003) after a pitch in front of a judging panel chaired by head judge (Channel 4’s Secret Millionaire) Kevin Green.[1][2] The company won a prize package worth £30,000 and established a relationship with the Welsh Assembly Government, which was responsible for administering the award.[3]
The company did not succeed. As of April 2015[update], a note "To our users" on the company website[4] says
Thank you. We had a rollercoaster ride with Loccit.com.
We enjoyed every moment of it and still believe in the concept. Sadly, it didn't come off for us this time. We invested a lot of time and money trying to make it work for you and us, but unfortunately we failed. We're forever grateful for the experience you gave us and certainly hope that you find a great way to accomplish the same thing Loccit provided.
