LondonTheatre.co.uk is one of the oldest websites dedicated to covering London theatre news and selling theatre tickets to shows in the West End and beyond. London Theatre is a STAR-affiliated West End theatre ticketing retailer[1], selling tickets for London musicals, plays, operas, ballets, and comedies. LondonTheatre.co.uk was founded in 1995, and is based in the United Kingdom.
History
LondonTheatre.co.uk was founded by Darren Daliglish in August 1995, and was one of the first websites dedicated to covering West End and Off-West End news. Daliglish, who worked as a postman, set up London Theatre as a passion project, self-financing the entire website.[2] While now common practice, in 1998, Daliglish launched a paid newsletter in the hopes of supporting the site and making it a full-time job.[3]
The London theatre ticket agency, Lashmars, worked with Daliglish to provide news, listings, seating plans, maps, online ticket ordering, and an e-mail newsletter.[4] Community members would also write and submit their own reviews for LondonTheatre.co.uk.
After establishing success with LondonTheatre.co.uk, Daliglish launched the New York theatre sister site, New York Theatre Guide, in 2003.
In December 2014, Encore Tickets acquired LondonTheatre.co.uk. LondonTheatre.co.uk could then sell tickets to London shows using API-integrated platforms.
In February 2020, the global digital ticketing site TodayTix acquired Encore Tickets.[5][6][7][8] LondonTheatre.co.uk is now part of TodayTix Group. TodayTix Group also includes TodayTix, Goldstar, Show-Score, and Broadway Roulette.
Services
London Theatre's online website provides ticketing services to London musicals, London plays, and live events in London.[9] London Theatre uses APIs from West End and Off-West End venues to sell tickets.
