London Youth Choirs
The London Youth Choirs are a family of choirs based in London, United Kingdom. Founded in 2012 by Suzi Digby OBE and Rachel Staunton[1], the choirs provide talented young singers between the ages of 7 and 23 who live, work, or study in London[2] with high-calibre musical education and performance opportunities.[3] The organisation is currently formed of six central choirs and a south-east regional choir.[4] Their choirs have performed across the country in such venues as the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Wembley Arena, and at Glastonbury Festival.

Choirs
Central Choirs
The organisation is comprised of six central choirs that rehearse weekly at the City of London School[9]
- The LYC Girls' Choir
For young girls in school years 3–6 and is conducted by Rachel Staunton.[10]
- The LYC Boys' Choir
For young boys in school years 3–6 with unchanged voices and is conducted by Ben Vonberg-Clark.[11]
- The LYC Cambiata Girls' Choir
For girls in school years 7–11. This choir is conducted by Andy King.[12]
- The LYC Cambiata Boys' Choir
For boys in school years 7–11. This choir is conducted by Jamie Wright.[13]
- The London Youth Choir (also known as the Senior Choir)
The London Youth Choir is the flagship ensemble of the organisation. An auditioned SATB choir for young people ages 14–23, the choir is conducted by Rachel Staunton.[14]
- London Youth Chamber Choir
The London Youth Chamber Choir is the “pinnacle of excellence” of LYC.[15] A twenty-voice SATB ensemble, members of the choir are required to re-audition annually. There are 16 choral scholarships to cover costs of further musical education. The choir is conducted by Greg Beardsell.[16] The choir has a regular performance schedule and often performs at major national concert venues with leading professional ensembles[17] and on live television and radio.[18]
Regional Choirs
From 2020, LYC has begun to launch regional choirs across London. Through the support of ICAP Charity Day[19], the organisation has been able to launch the first of their four planned regional choirs.
- LYC South East Junior Choir
For children in years 3–6 across the South East of London. The choir is conducted by Rachel Staunton and rehearses at Alfred Salter Primary School in Rotherhithe, Southwark.
Performance Highlights
Key performance credits include:
- With the Rolling Stones at Glastonbury Festival[20]
- Capital One Cup Final at Wembley Stadium
- BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall
- Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in front of Queen Elizabeth II and broadcast live on BBC One
- World Premiere of The Great War Symphony at the Royal Albert Hall broadcast live on Classic FM[21]
- Worked with Dame Kiri te Kanawa on Passions: a Sky Arts documentary on the life and work of Leonard Bernstein[22]
- Recorded the score for Channel 4's adaptation of We're Going on a Bear Hunt[23]
- Worked with the Greater London Authority to record the soundtrack for the Mayor of London's cleaner air campaign[24]
- Performed Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 at the Royal Festival Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski[25]
