Lonnie Crayton
Lonnie Crayton (born Hulon Edward Crayton II; December 19, 1981) is a Native American/British/Canadian film director, actor, talent manager, multi-platinum music ghostwriting producer/songwriter, designer, video game developer, venture capitalist.[1][2], philosopher[3], entrepreneur[4], and former athlete[5]. He was born in Madison, Wisconsin to United States Army officers Dr. Hulon E. Crayton, M.D. and Hon. Dr. Dinah M. Crayton, J.D., PhD, MA, O.M., a civil rights and community activist[6][7][8][9][10][11][12].
He attended The Prairie School, a private arts institution in the small great lakes village of Wind Point, Wisconsin, where he got his start in gaming. Also in his adolescent years, studying art at Racine Art Museum, during which he created his first film short, animation, and voice-over. At Tulane University, he studied communications and marketing, leading to a lengthy career in advertising. He turned down acceptance to law school to attend University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
At an early age, he embarked on a music career, signing a record deal. Years later, working with the likes of Cash Money Records, Ari Lennox (who he discovered[13][14]), Howard Hewett (Shalamar), Athena Lee, James Kottak (Scorpions (band)), and many other Hollywood stars. His record label has a record distribution[15] and marketing deal with Universal Music Group and Bungalo Records.
Lonnie is related to several notable people, including:
- His uncle[16], Thomas 'Tom' Henson, is a television show producer and director. Most notable, Thomas' work with BET, Comedy Central, MLB, and the NFL.
- Ernest Mateen (cousin[17]), an American Golden Gloves boxer from New York.
- Chief Kiutus Tecumseh (cousin[18], born Herman Willis Roberts[19]), a tribal leader in Washington (state) and head of the Tecumseh's Confederacy.
- Fairy Mae Bryant[20] (cousin), whom inherited the business from Madam C. J. Walker, the first black millionaire[21]
- His half uncle[22], Robert Gene Henson Jr. (born Robert Chang[23]), an inventor[24], whose son is a former Army Ranger and military contractor.
- Claude Albert Barnett (cousin[25][26]), founder of Associated Negro Press (ANP) and wife to Etta Moten Barnett, an actress and dancer. Claude was committee secretary[27] for the Republican National Committee (RNC) during Herbert Hoover's presidential campaign.
- His cousin[28], Jerald Ingram, former coach for the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars
- His father[29][30][31], Hulon, was a BDS & Billboard[32][33][34] charting Jazz/R&B artist, honored by The Grammy Awards postmortem [35]
- His cousin[36], Mari Da Silva[37][38][39][40], a New York broadway dancer and choreographer.
- His grandfather, Matthew Henson, was the head of a local International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union for 20 years, a 32ndº Freemason, Military Police officer in the United States Army & United States Air Force, farmer, and factory worker. His wife, Marilyn L. Henson, has Native American[41], Black Scottish, and Irish ancestry[42]. She is an ancestor of the Lost Creek Settlement, a group of American Indians (Lumbee, Nansemond, Paspahegh, and Tuscarora tribes).
