LoopNet Asia is a Vietnam-based digital platform focused on data coordination related to plastics recycling and circular economy systems in Southeast Asia. The platform aggregates information on industrial plastic materials, recycling capacity, and regulatory requirements to support coordination among manufacturers, recyclers, and other stakeholders.
LoopNet Asia was established in Viet Nam in 2025.[1][2][3].
Background
Plastics recycling systems in Viet Nam and Southeast Asia are characterized by fragmented data on material flows, processing capacity, and regulatory compliance. Industry reports and development agencies have identified limited data integration as a barrier to effective recycling and implementation of extended producer responsibility (EPR) policies.
LoopNet Asia was developed in response to these challenges, with an initial focus on industrial and pre-consumer plastic waste streams.[4]
Platform description
The platform operates as a modular digital system that consolidates data related to plastic material generation, recycling services, and regulatory information. According to publicly available descriptions, its functions include:[5]
- matching plastic waste generators with recycling facilities based on material type and location
- organizing regulatory information related to circular economy and EPR requirements
- aggregating data on material flows for analysis and reporting
The platform is accessible online at loopnet.asia.
Features and functionality
LoopNet Asia is structured as a modular digital platform composed of several interconnected components. Public descriptions of the platform identify the following functional modules:
Material matching (LoopMatch)
LoopMatch is a platform module that allows users to identify recycling and buy-back facilities based on plastic type, quantity, and geographic proximity.
Regulatory information (LoopComply)
LoopComply provides structured information related to circular economy regulations and extended producer responsibility (EPR) requirements relevant to plastics management.
Data aggregation and analytics (LoopIntel)
LoopIntel aggregates data on plastic material flows, recycling activity, and actor participation for system-level analysis and reporting.
Reference content (Circular Showcase)
The Circular Showcase module presents curated reference material documenting recycled products, circular design approaches, and reuse or refill models.
News and updates (LoopNews)
LoopNews compiles publicly available updates related to policy, technology, and market developments in plastics recycling and circular economy initiatives.
Community and inclusion components (Community Hub and LoopCare)
The platform includes a community-oriented space for information exchange among users (Community Hub) and a component focused on informal waste collection activities (LoopCare), which documents recovery contributions and working conditions.
Development and recognition
In 2025, LoopNet Asia was selected among twelve initiatives nationwide under the UNDP Plastics Innovation Programme in Viet Nam, a programme supporting innovations addressing plastic pollution[6]
The platform was also selected to participate in the Vietnam–Japan Innovation Challenge, a government-supported initiative aimed at promoting cross-border technology collaboration between Viet Nam and Japan.
At the regional level, LoopNet Asia was shortlisted as a finalist in SEA-MaP (Southeast Asia Regional Program on Combating Marine Plastics) following the proposal of an industry pilot related to circular business models.
Organizational backing
LoopNet Asia is developed and maintained by entities with expertise in supply chain analytics and circular economy research:
- CEL (CEL Consulting) – a supply-chain consulting and industry research firm based in Viet Nam focusing on logistics, circular materials analytics, and market systems.
- SIMCEL – a technology partner providing digital systems expertise for platform development and deployment.
Founder
LoopNet Asia was founded by Quyen Nguyen, a supply chain researcher and practitioner based in Viet Nam. Nguyen is also Director of CEL Consulting and a co-founder of the Vietnam Supply Chain Community.[7]
Prior to founding LoopNet Asia, Nguyen established Laiday Refill, one of Viet Nam’s early refill-oriented retail initiatives focused on reducing packaging waste and promoting sustainable consumption.[8]
