Lorcan Collins
Lorcan Collins is an Irish historian, author and podcast host born in Dublin in 1969. He founded the 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour in 1996 and the Revolutionary Ireland Podcast in 2020.[1] Collins is a regular contributor to radio, television and historical journals and has lectured on Irish revolutionary history in the United States.[2]
Works
Lorcan Collins has written four books which are all published in Ireland by the O'Brien Press.[3] The Easter Rising which Collins co-authored with Conor Kostick was published in 2000.[4] Collins wrote a biography of James Connolly[5] in 2013 which was the first book in the 16 Lives Series[6] which was edited by Collins and Dr Ruan O'Donnell of the University of Limerick. In 2016 Collins wrote 1916; The Rising Handbook.[7] In 2019 Collins wrote Ireland's War of Independence; The IRA's Guerrilla Campaign 1919-21[8] which was launched in the Mansion House, Dublin by Gerry Adams.[9]
1916 Walking Tour
The 1916 Walking Tour of Dublin was founded in 1996 by Lorcan Collins. The tour runs from The International Bar on Wicklow Street, Dublin. Guides who worked for the 1916 Walking Tour included Shane Mac Thomáis,[10][11] Conor Kostick[11] and Shane Kenna.[12]
Podcast
Lorcan Collins is the host of the Revolutionary Ireland Podcast which was founded in 2020.[13]
Lectures in the United States
Lorcan Collins has spoken in a number of Universities and Colleges in the United States including Carson–Newman University in 2013;[14] Rockhurst University in 2013;[15] and Cooper Union on 27 April 2016.[16]
