Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire’s Young Person of the Year Award
The Lord Lieutenant’s Young Person of the Year Award is the highest honour and decoration bestowed onto a young person as received from Her Majesty the Queen’s personal representative.
The award acknowledges and recognises outstanding and inspirational young people.
Gary Concepcion of Leicester is the only young person to have been Nominated and be a Finalist twice in 2017 and 2020 respectively. His 2017 nomination for the Young Braveheart of the Year category included describing him as being seen as a ‘youth champion’ and having become ‘known for coming up with the brightest ideas’ to do with being on the Council. An extract from his 2020 nomination for the new and inaugural Young Leader of the Year category says that he is widely tipped and seen as ‘a future Prime Minister of the United Kingdom’. It also notes his extensive political experience, Council roles, humanitarian and charity work, past recognition, awards, honours and accolades, past overcoming of adversity, personality and future prospects.
