Lorena Gaxiola (born 28 October 1974) is a Mexican-American interior designer.[1][2][3][4][5][6] Her lifestyle brand launched with several organizations such as AllModern, Burke Décor, Frontgate, Inmod, PureHome, Rue La La, and Wayfair.[7][8][9][10][11][12]

Gaxiola is recognized for her consultancy business and line of homewares that have been featured in several publications worldwide.[13][14][15][16] She is also a self-published children's book author.[17]

Early life and education[edit]

Gaxiola was born on 28 October 1974 in Tijuana, Baja California Mexico, to Maximiliano Gaxiola and Carmen Alicia Delgado.[18][19] Gaxiola grew up in a middle class, catholic family with three siblings, two older sisters. During her childhood, Gaxiola moved from town to town in Mexico due to the extent of her father's work that took place in Yucatán, Quintana Roo, Querétaro, Jalisco, and Mexico City. The family eventually settled once again in Baja California.

Gaxiola's father introduced her to Interior Design after she raised interest in studying architecture to follow in her father's footsteps. Gaxiola pursued a bachelor's degree course in fine arts from the Design Institute of San Diego in 1997.[20] Gaxiola attended private art classes and is proficient in various media such as oil painting, pastels, acrylic, and watercolor.

Career[edit]

Gaxiola started her career by working for the American store Z Gallerie, where she gained experience as a salesperson.

Gaxiola founded her design company in 2000[21] and worked for several builders such as KBHome, Khovananian, ColRich, Ryland Homes, Distinctive Homes, Zephyr Partners, and Beucler Signature across the global market.[22][23][24]

In 2007, Gaxiola expanded her business by establishing satellite offices in Australia to service her growing Australasia clientele.[25][26]

Gaxiola, in 2011, established a leading eCommerce homewares store in China, named OTB Home.[27]

In 2013, Gaxiola enrolled in The Workshop Programme by Macy's Inc. This helped Gaxiola to launch her collection of homewares that debuted in New York City in 2014[28][29] and was sold in stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Gracious Home, Allmodern, Wayfair, Amazon, Temple and Webster, Between the Sheets, Design Public, Dot and Bop,[30] Shop-Salt, Wysada International and RIS Saudi Arabia among other smaller retailers.[31][32][33][34]
