Lou Kitchner
Louis (Lou) Kitchner is a band teacher and tuba player based in Westport, Connecticut. Prior to his position as a band teacher, Lou Kitchner was a student of Harvey Phillips and has performed at numerous locations such as the first International Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Riva del Garda, Italy. He was a member of the First Glasnost Ballet Company after the Cold War and toured with Lorrie Morgan on her Merry Christmas from London CD Tour in 1993 and several more brass quintets. Before he took up his position in Westport, he was an adjunct professor at Binghamton University where he directed the pep band as well as the university wind ensemble. Lou Kitchner has been a Grammy quarterfinalist for the music educator of the year from 2018–2021; he is also a legacy member of the Grammy’s musical educator award and is in the Grammy Museum[1].[2]
