Lourdes Celtic Football Club is a boys and girls underage Association Football club based in Crumlin and south city area of Dublin, Ireland. The club primarily plays in the Dublin District Schoolboys League[1] and is represented by almost 40 teams from U8s to U18s and a senior side. The club also runs a feeder academy for its youngest members aged 4-7.
Lourdes Celtic is one of the best known schoolboy/girl football clubs in Ireland[2] thanks to a strong coaching set-up, community feel, and child-focused development philosophy. A large number of past players have gone on to professional football careers in Ireland and the U.K.. including several who have played for the Irish International side both in the men's and women's game.
Lourdes Celtic is also a participant in the FAI’s Football For All Programme, giving opportunities to individuals with a disability to play football.[3][4]
History[edit]
Formed in 1957 in Maryland, Dublin 8, Lourdes Celtic F.C.’s name originates from the Lourdes Road – a local focal point in the area at the time. Their inaugural game took place against Annamo Rangers in the Phoenix Park, Dublin.[5] The club’s Latin motto ‘Fortius Quo Fidelius’, translated as ‘Strength Through Loyalty’, features prominently on the crest.
