Louvre Surabaya is a basketball club located in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. Louvre Surabaya was established in late 2019 as a new expansion team for Indonesia Basketball League.
History
Louvre Group initially started as a professional E-sport team for a famous mobile game, Mobile Legend. The owner, Erick Herlanga (Vice-President of Golden Tulip Indonesia) decided to venture into basketball after watching a Youtube video of Daniel Wenas sharing his financial instability with his then-team, Bogor Siliwangi. After a brief exchange with Wenas, Erick decided to create Louvre Basketball and to participate in the upcoming 2020 Indonesian Basketball League season.
By late November, the team had drafted last-season MVP, Savon Goodman and veteran point-guard Martavious Irving as well as recruited established naturalized players such as Jamarr Johnson and Brandon Jawato to their roster; however, the latter two will not be able to participate in the upcoming 2020 IBL Indonesia season.[1]
Arena
Louvre Surabaya's official home-base will be at DBL Arena located in Surabaya.
