Lovern Kindzierski

Lovern Kindzierski (born July 29, 1954 in Arborg, Manitoba) is a Canadian comic book colourist and writer.

Early life[edit]

Kindzierski’s father encouraged his art early on by introducing him to comic books. He would then go on to attend Red River College for Advertising Art after moving to Winnipeg...[1] He spent the next six years as a printer, freelancing in the evening. After this he decided to go back to school, enrolling at the University of Manitoba in the Fine Art program. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Art, Honours degree. Upon completion of this degree he tried out to be George Freeman’s assistant and achieved this position.

Career[edit]

Through his company Digital Chameleon, Lovern pioneered the modern colouring method which to this day is the industry standard in comic books and graphic novels world-wide. Lovern's colours have appeared in many comic books, magazines and animation, including Batman[2], The X-men[3], The New Yorker and Wired[4]. He has been nominated as best colourist for the Eisner Awards[5], Harvey Awards[6], and Schuster Awards[7]. Lovern won best colourist in the Wizard Fan Awards[8], as well as the Comic Buyer’s Guide[9] Fan Awards. In his other career, as a writer, he has worked on titles such as Spiderman[8], Wolverine[8], and The Victorian[10]. His writing on Tarzan[11] garnered him the nomination for best writer in the Harvey Awards[12] Currently Lovern is the writer of the ongoing Shame[13] trilogy that is painted by John Bolton and Necromantic[14] the upcoming series from Renegade Arts Entertainment[15]
