Lucira Jewelry is an Indian jewellery company established in October 2024 by Rupesh Jain, who had earlier founded Candere, later acquired by Kalyan Jewellers. The company is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra and specializes in lab-grown diamond jewellery.[1]

History

Rupesh Jain, an engineer from Mumbai with a background in information technology, worked with Ornet Technology and L&T Infotech before entering the jewellery sector. Coming from a family of jewellers, he co-founded Candere in 2013, an online jewellery retailer offering gold, diamond, gemstone, and platinum products.[2]

Candere grew as part of India’s e-commerce jewellery market and was acquired in stages by Kalyan Jewellers, which purchased a majority stake in 2017 and later bought the remaining shares, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.[3]

After leaving Candere, Jain launched Lucira Jewelry on 10 October 2024 as a digital-first lab-grown diamond jewellery brand.[1][4]

Funding

In October 2024, Lucira raised about ₹187 crore from anchor investors to support its operations and growth.[5] The company announced plans to develop a hybrid distribution model, beginning with e-commerce and adding flagship stores in major cities such as Mumbai and Delhi.[1]

Business Model

Lucira operates primarily through its online platform but has announced plans for flagship stores in metro areas.[1] The company focuses on certified lab-grown diamonds and uses technology including AI-based customization, 3D design, and virtual try-on features.[4]

The company has also expressed interest in expanding to international markets, including the Middle East, the United Kingdom, and the United States.[4]
