Luke John Burger, (born 12 August 2002) is a South African professional player for Western Province in the Currie Cup.[1] His regular positions are Wing and Fullback.

Rugby career[edit]

Burger made his senior debut for Western Province against the Free State Cheetahs on 15 April 2023.[2]

He also represented WP at various youth levels including their Under-13[3] and Under-18[4] Craven Week and Academy Week teams, both of which finished on top in 2015 and 2019 respectively.[5] Furthermore, he was also invited to be a part of the Under-16[6] and Under-17[7] Elite Player Development camps hosted by SA Rugby in 2018 and 2019.

Burger continued to represent Western Province, after finishing high school, in the SARU Under-20[8] and Under-21[9] cups between 2021 and 2023. In addition to this, he debuted for Maties in their 2023 Varsity Cup campaign.[10]

Personal Life[edit]

Luke Burger is the son of former Springbok and Western Province winger Kobus Burger.

He was elected as Head Boy of Paul Roos Gymnasium in 2020 and captained their first team in his grade 12 year.
