Luke Ishikawa Plowden (Thai: ลุค อิชิคาว่า พลาวเด้น; born 13 September 1995), is a Japanese-American model and actor based in Thailand. He is best known for his leading roles in the Thai live-action film "Undefeated (2021) and the Thai television drama Oh My Boss (2021) and My Dear Donovan (2022).[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Plowden was born on 13 September 1995 in Pennsylvania,United States. He grew up in the USA, graduating from State College Area High School in Pennsylvania. He graduated from George Washington University Columbian College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Statistics in 2017.[2][3][4]
Ishikawa Plowden was already enrolled in the master's program back in the USA when a modeling opportunity came. He first started as a model in Thailand. What was originally a three-month modeling gig led to more opportunities for him, not only in modeling but also in acting.[5]
Career and influence[edit]
In the end of the year 2017, Luke Ishikawa came to Thailand to cast for his modeling job, because he got bored of his office job in the US. In Thailand he was told that if he could speak Thai he could easily be an actor. He then also realized that modeling couldn't last very long, but acting could be a better career for his future. He decided to stay in Thailand and started learning and studying Thai to pursue his career as an actor. As of 2019, he is an artist under GMM TV in Thailand.[6] [7]
In 2019, he was offered a leading role for a new Thai series Oh My Boss from "Khunchai Adam" or Mom Rajawongse Chalermchatri Yukol, because his looks fit the role of Mr. Akitsuki Koji in the series perfectly. The series was released on May 19, 2021 and was very well received. It also made him a well-known actor from the role.[8]
In August 2021, he launched a campaign "TRIBUTE X LUKE ISHIKAWA" for the project "Up for Thai" to helping and to alleviating the suffering of the people affected in the situation of the COVID-19 outbreak.[9][10]
In 2022, Luke Ishikawa together with Grace Karnklao Duaysianklao (Thai: กาญจน์เกล้า ด้วยเศียรเกล้า) accepted the leading roles in the series Drag, I Love You; the series about the unfolding of Drag queen and LGBTQ lives in Thailand. The series aired on GMM TV in April 2022.[11][12]
