Luke Shen-Tien Chi (born 1978 in Mountain View, California) is the first American-born Chinese spokenologist and writer. Who has turned spoken language into a academic discipline called, Spokenology. Chi first came to China in 2008 and taught Engish Spokenology in Liaoning Province. He currently teaches at Shenyang Normal University, where he's also the founding president of Spokenology Association [3] since 2015. He is the author of the world’s first Spokenology textbook, which was published in October 2016 by Tsinghua University Press.[1][2]

Ancestor and Personal Life[edit]

Chi is the fourth generation descendant of Sheng Xuanhuai (1844-1916), founder of Peiyang University, China's first modern higher education institution. He resides in Liaoning Province, married with a son. [4]

Spokenology Association[edit]

In 2015 Chi established the Spokenology Association of Shenyang Normal University as the first affiliation of Spokenology academics. [5][6]
