Lunar farming

Lunar farming is a novel concept about the cultivation of crops and other plants in the controlled environment on the moon to maintain human life. The farming process depends on photosynthesis in which light is being used as a source of energy to convert minerals, carbon dioxide and water into food and oxygen. Different processes and techniques are used to recycle the resources to grow plants and various factors are carefully managed like no atmosphere, less water and very high temperature. The main focus is on growing leafy vegetables, wheat, potatoes, many types of herbs and algae because they have the possibility to grow on hydroponic system which is acceptable for the lunar environment. According to some researches, the fertility rate of the lunar soil can be increased by using earthworms which helps in the environmental friendly crop growth.[1][2][3][4]
