Lunch Actually

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lunch Actually is a Singapore-based matchmaking service for working professionals. Users interested in Lunch Actually’s service first sign up for a free consultation and chat with one of the company’s dating consultants in one of Lunch Actually’s offices. After an ID check and consultation, users are then matched with others based on their profile and preferences. This process is repeated until the single meets someone via the system.[1][2] The company also offers date and image coaching services.[1]

The company was first launched in Singapore in 2004 and later expanded to multiple cities in Asia, such as Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Bangkok.[3][4][5]. In 2017, Lunch Actually Group has arranged more than 93,000 dates[6] and created over 3,000 successful pairings across Asia[3]

In 2018, the company launched a new platform, Viola.AI that incorporated blockchain, cryptocurrency and Artificial Intelligence. The platform is said to provide matching service and dating advice.[7]

History[edit]

Lunch Actually was founded in 2004 by Ms Violet Lim and Mr Jamie Lee, a married couple[8]. Lim got the idea when she was working in a bank and realized that working professionals had little time for dating due to a busy schedule.[1] [9][3]

In 2016, the company managed to raise a 7-digit Series A round of funding from Mixi, a Japanese social networking service and publisher, and also Fatfish Internet Group, which is a Southeast Asian and Australian-based venture investment and development firm.[10][11]
