History
Luso Digital Assets was founded on 08-05-2020 by Ricardo Filipe and Andrea Fonseca. It was initially registered in Funchal, entering afterwards the Madeira Free Zone. It completed its licensing process with the Portuguese Central Bank[1], obtaining a full license in 2021[2] to operate within the SEPA Zone. Despite the issues in Portugal with banks denying service to cryptocurrency related companies [3], Luso Digital Assets has been able to keep operating within the country, maintaining several Portuguese banking partners, as well as other European ones.
Business
P2P Trading
Luso Digital Assets operates on several P2P platforms, such as Localbitcoins[4], Paxful [5], HodlHodl [6] or Binance P2P marketplace.
OTC Desk
Luso Digital Assets is a boutique OTC desk; it works closely with the end customer to acquire a specific amount of any tradeable cryptocurrencies. It values communication and performing operations on demand for any customer, from retail to business customers alike.
Real Estate Brokering
Luso Digital Assets assists in the process of real estate and other M&A operations when a client wishes to purchase these assets with cryptocurrency. It works with the buyer and seller to provide quotes for a specific deal. It collects source of funds documentation on the cryptocurrency being used, KYC information on all participants of the deal and finally performs the bank transfer to the destination of the funds, according to the purchase agreement.
Lending
The p2p lending service of Luso Digital Assets provides a matching engine for borrowers looking to get fiat funds for real world transactions. Borrowers over-collateralize their loan by providing Luso Digital Assets their cryptocurrency of choice, which becomes immediately visible to them onchain, and define the rate that they wish to pay lenders. Lenders who agree with the borrower's conditions send stablecoins to cover the fiat amount of the lending contract. It provides a transparent alternative to the traditional centralized crypto lenders, without using customer funds for speculative operations. It also provides a direct connection with fiat currency that DeFi protocols are not able to.
