She has published two books: 20 Years of KDE: Past, Present and Future and Open Advice. 20 Years of KDE: Past, Present and Future is a collection of 37 stories about the social, cultural, and technical aspects surrounding the KDE community. The book explores the perspective of a wide array of members – from the newcomers to the community founders and veterans. The variety of points of view takes the reader on a trip through the history and community of one of the biggest free software communities. You can learn more about the book at http://20years.kde.org/book. Open Advice is a compilation of essays from 42 prominent free software contributors. It walks through the insights, wants, and desires of the contributors, focusing on what they wish they knew before they contributed to free software. You can learn more at http://open-advice.org/. Aside from her written work, Lydia has also given multiple presentations on topics ranging from Open Data (Giving more people more access to more knowledge), KDE (Evolving KDE – Shaping our Future), Negotiation Theory (How to get what you want with a minimum of misery), Free Software (Your chance to change the world and how to get there), etc.

Papers

Lydia's paper titled Mentoring in Free Software Projects, a review of 6 years of GSoC and SoK in KDE and what we learned so far, was written for Akademy 2010. The paper divulges several interesting findings about KDE's participation in Google Summer of Code and Season of KDE. She created a social media guide for free software projects that showcases how social media can facilitate FOSS projects in maintaining contact with their users. The guide includes several basic templates for different websites as well as insider tips on social media management (http://github.com/lydiapintscher/social-media-guide). At her time at the University of Karlsruhe, she completed her diploma thesis titled "Collaborative and transparent Free Software development" which analyzed and offered improvements on the development process of Amarok and Halo/SMW+.
