Lynn Ranch, California

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Lynn Ranch is an unincorporated community in Ventura County, surrounded by Thousand Oaks, California.[1][2] It is located north of the 101 Freeway and west of Lynn Road.[3] It is an equestrian community which is home to six miles of bridle trails. It was originally part of the Lynn Family Ranch, but later developed by the Janss Corporation.[4]

R.O. Hunt, who fought in several Dakota Indian battles, bought a ranch here in 1876. Lynn Ranch was then known as Salto Ranch. The ranch was named for the nearby canyon; salto means a “jumping-off place” in Spanish.[5]:30

Janss Investment Corporation began marketing Lynn Ranch estate-type homes for sale in January 1956. Lynn Ranch was one of the two earliest constructed residential subdivisions by the Janss Corporation.[5]:43

The lots are large, from three-quarters of an acre to three acre lots. As it is an unincorporated community, residents can not vote in Thousand Oaks city elections. It was once home to movie producer Harold Knox.[6]
