Arun Bharathi (born as Arunkumar) is an Indian Poet, Film Lyricist, Television program producer, and Screenwriter. He is best known for his lyrical contribution to Tamil language films. Having published more than five books on poetry, ArunBharathi received a greater response and critical acclamation for his one-of-a-kind poetry Pudhiya panaiyil pazhaiya soru due to its meaningful message got included in the syllabus of Kerala education till now. With a sheer interest in arts and entertainment, he began his professional career in the Television industry as a Program Producer and has successfully produced many series for Tamil language TV channels including Sun TV, and Vasanth TV. After 2017, he took a short break from the Television industry and started his career in the Tamil film industry as a Lyricist.

Biography[edit]

Arun Bharathi was born in Uthamapalayam, a small town near Kambam Pallathaaku in Theni, Tamilnadu as the eldest son in the agricultural family. He has a younger brother and a sister. It was after his father’s dreadful demise, Arun Bharathi started writing and developed deep interest in it thereafter. The unavoidable and difficult incidents faced in his life led to the publication of his first book Sindhikka Nerndhavai in the year (2005)

Early Life

Arun Bharathi made his way to Chennai for his career with his first book. At the initial stages, he travelled through rough paths working in the Tea shop, STD booth, Courier Company, washing machine showrooms, etc. With his unshakable determination to leave his footprints in Indian Cinema, he continued his poetry writing. Arun Bharathi got his first break with Pudhiya panaiyil pazhaiya soru which received appreciation from Director Mr.K.Bhagyaraj and was published in Bakya magazine for twenty-two weeks and gained recognition from the audience. After which Arun Bharathi became the assistant to the K Bhagyaraj and learned exercise of writing lyrics based on tunes.  

Personal Life

Arun Bharathi’s been married to V.Padmavathy,  a Television writer with a passion of writing who works in the Tamil Film industry and also she works at Accenture as Software Engineer. They have a son named Akilan Sai who was born in 2020.

PudhiyaPanaiyil Pazhaiya Soru

Arun Bharathi penned Pudhiya Panaiyil Pazhaiya Soru, a collection of village Folklore poetry, which was released by Director K Bakyaraj and the renowned Poet Kavikko Abdul Rahman Ayyaa to the public. The book was highly applauded and acknowledged by Director Bharathiraja, Director Parthiban, Pandiaraj, Director Lingusami, Poet Arivumadhi, and Music Director Ghibran. This incredible poetry was also included in the syllabus for Kerala education.

Mannodu Poraadum Vergal

Arun Bharathi contributed to poetry with another book called Mannodu Poraadum Vergal which is a collection of Social issue poems. This book was officially released by Director Pandiaraj. Students of M.Phil are doing research and projects in this book.

Ammachi

With an idea to create awareness about relationships, Arun Bharathi wrote a collection of Village folklore poem book called Ammachi that talks about relations and their values

Coronavukku Thappiya Kavithaigal

In the crisis COVID-19 situation, Arunbharathi published a poetry collection book called Coronavukku Thappiya Kavithaigal despite being in the difficult situation of having his wife at the maternity ward. The poetry book based on the Corona Crisis, Frontline Warriors, Migrant Workers, and Pregnant women was released by Actor Vijay Antony in the year (2020) and got highly acclaimed by the audience.

Contribution to Indie Music[edit]

To support and encourage fresh and young talents, Arun Bharathi launched a platform called Arun media networks which allows upcoming lyricists and music directors to publish or launch their albums.

Interests[edit]

Arunbharathi has utter interest in photography and travel. He also cites documenting the village dialects, rituals, orthodoxy, and verbal folklores with absolute passion. He along with his wife Padmavathy a travel buff had travelled to many places in and around India and foreign countries.

Career[edit]

Debut

After his poetry book Pudhiya Panaiyil Pazhaiya Soru became a hit, Arun Bharathi availed an opportunity from Director K.Bhagyaraj to write a song in Thunai Mudhalvar Tamil in the year 2015. Later, he penned songs for tamil-dubbed movies. He took a major leap forward with the opportunity given by Actor and Music Director Vijay Antony for the Tamil movie Annadurai. While Arunbharathi was longing for a single recognition, Vijay Antony gave an opportunity to pen the entire album comprised of five songs in Annadurai of which the opening song Thangama Vairama was a huge hit.

Lyric Writer

Succeeding his work for Annadurai movie, Arunbharathi became the most sought after lyricist for the opening Songs in Tamil cinema. His meesa vaccha vettaikkaran in Sandakozhi 2, Aandavane thunaiyaai from Kolaigaaran, Thimirukke pidichavan from Thimiru pidichavan were massive hits. To mention in particular, Amma Song in Kaali was highly distinguished and even made as a theme song in maternity hospitals in Tamilnadu.

The biggest turn of the tide in his life happened when Arunbharathi received a chance to write songs for the movie Viswasam directed by Siruthai Siva. D Imman’s fast beat musicals including Danga Danga, and Thalle Thillaley written for Actor Ajith Kumar became the blockbuster hits of the year and widely celebrated by the audience and critics. He had received Honarary Doctorate for Lyrics and Tamil Literature from Universal Press Media Association.
