M.C Vijayananda Reddy
M. C. Vijayanandha Reddy (born 24 July 1969), commonly known as VNR, is an Indian politician from Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh. He is a member of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and has been active in local politics since the 2010s. He contested the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from the Chittoor Assembly constituency as a YSRCP candidate but was not elected.[1]
Early life
Reddy was born in 1969 into a farming family in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, to M. A. Chinnabba Reddy and Padmajyothi.[2]
Political career
Reddy joined the YSR Congress Party after its formation in 2011. He has been involved in constituency-level organisation and local outreach initiatives.[3]
He previously served as Vice-Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation from 2021 to 2023.[4]
He contested the 2024 Legislative Assembly election from Chittoor, receiving 72,399 votes and finishing second.[1]

Reddy has participated in community welfare activities in Chittoor district, including free meal programmes and small-business support initiatives.[5]

Controversies
Half-naked protest
In April 2024, during the election campaign, Reddy staged a half-naked protest in front of the I Town police station in Chittoor. He removed his shirt to allege that police personnel had given a free hand to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders to manipulate postal ballots. The protest attracted media attention and was widely reported in regional news outlets.[7]
