History
MAGFAST – Company History
2017 – Founding & Early Vision
MAGFAST was founded in October 2017 by Seymour Segnit and Amy Rau Segnit with the goal of transforming how people charge their devices. After years of frustration with tangled cords and inefficient chargers, Seymour envisioned a modular, magnetic charging system that combined convenience, design excellence, and technical performance. The name “MAGFAST” reflects its core promise: magnetic alignment and fast, seamless charging.
2017 – Test Launch & Initial Crowdfunding
Shortly after founding, MAGFAST conducted a test launch of its first product concept. The campaign generated an enthusiastic response, with pre-orders totaling around $600,000 in the first 24 hours, validating strong market demand for a better charging experience.
2018–2020 – Building the Brand & Continued Crowdfunding
MAGFAST continued to refine its product designs and engage its audience through online campaigns and crowdfunding. Early crowdfunding efforts demonstrated public interest in a magnetic charging system that eliminated cable clutter and unified charging across devices.
2020 – SEC-Regulated Offering & Growth
In late 2020, MAGFAST conducted a formal Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF) offering, giving individual investors the opportunity to own part of the company. The offering opened in November 2020 and completed in December, further expanding MAGFAST’s community of supporters and investors.
2021–2024 – Product Development and Community Expansion
Throughout this period, MAGFAST focused on refining its charging product family—including magnetic wireless chargers and modular power banks—while continuing to engage its global community of supporters. The company built its reputation on transparency, direct-to-consumer engagement, and regular live updates.
2024–2025 – Continued Funding & New Products
MAGFAST successfully closed multiple funding rounds on Netcapital, raising millions in community investment and establishing itself as one of the most crowdfunded hardware companies in its category. As of 2025, the company has raised over $10M+ in Netcapital offerings and continues rolling out new products like Air Pro, an advanced charging hub designed to support multiple high-power charging points.
2026 and Beyond – Innovation & Expansion
MAGFAST is advancing into next-generation products that incorporate cutting-edge technologies (such as partnerships for rapid power bank recharge), expanded compatibility with universal standards like Qi2, and broader retail and distribution strategies. The company remains focused on its original mission: to eliminate cable clutter and elevate charging as a delightful, integrated experience.
