MAP Health Management

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

MAP Health Management (MAP) is a behavioral health outcomes management company that provides extended treatment support, telehealth programs and revenue cycle management in the field of behavioral healthcare. MAP is a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS),[1] America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP),[2] and the American Telemedicine Association.[3]

History[edit]

MAP was founded in 2011 by Jacob Levenson to address the lack of significant outcomes measurement in the field of recovery, after a personal experience exposed him to the addiction treatment landscape.[4] In 2016, Levenson was listed in the Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the 112 Healthcare Entrepreneurs to Know.[5]

In 2015, MAP added Karen Pilley as COO to accommodate MAP’s significant early growth.[6] Pilley previously worked as a specialist in healthcare billing and collection, revenue cycle management, government and managed care payer regulation and compliance.[7] In the same year, MAP added Clinical Director Kerby Stewart, MD in a push further toward a focus on utilizing data to improve treatment outcomes for individuals in long-term recovery.[8] Previously, Dr. Stewart worked for the Texas Department of State Health Services as Clinical Coordinator for Substance Abuse Programs, served as director of the Texas Recovery Initiative task force, and is a founding member of the American Board of Holistic Medicine.[9] They also added Avi Mukherjee as CTO to address emerging opportunities in the healthcare technology field.[10]

MAP Recovery Network[edit]

When MAP was founded it focused strictly on improving addiction treatment outcomes through recovery support services.[11] MAP worked to connect patients suffering from addiction to treatment providers in its network that have demonstrated efficacy in dealing with that type of patient.[12] In 2015 the company's focus shifted to population health management with the release of the MAP Recovery Network, an interactive cloud-based platform that provides real-time population health tools and analysis to behavioral healthcare providers through the platform’s five tools: Watch Tower™, Engagement Manager, Case 360™, MAP Pathways™, and MAP Insights™.[13] The MAP Recovery Network also provides patients the access to addiction treatment providers who offer long-term recovery support services.[14]

Affiliates and Subsidiaries[edit]

In 2016, MAP split off their revenue cycle management business into a subsidiary called MAP Revenue Cycle Solutions (MAP RCS).[15]

MAP partners with technology companies to provide and develop tools in the field of relapse and addiction recovery including Soberlink, makers of an FDA-cleared remote breathalyzer,[16] and Intent Solutions who have developed a biometrics-secured pill dispensing device.[17] These devices are used to track patient adherence to medical protocols to curb addition relapse.[18]

Awards[edit]

MAP was announced as a finalist for the Fierce Innovation Awards: Health Edition 2016.[19]
