The MF 19 [1] is a future rolling stock on the Paris Métro to replace, from 2024, the trainsets MF 67, MF 77 and MF 88 of Lines 3, 3bis, 7, 7bis, 8, 10, 12 and 13 of the Paris Metro.

History

After replacing the MF 67 on lines 2, 5 and 9, the average age of rolling stock has dropped. However, many lines remain equipped with equipment reaching the end of its life in the medium or even short term.

It became urgent to replace the MF 67s, which are on average between forty-three and fifty-three years old, and to provide for the replacement of the MF 77s, which are around forty years old on average in 2021. At the same time, the replacement of the MF 88s was decided.

Initially, the contract to be concluded must provide for the replacement of at least 338 trainsets. The call for tenders is launched in May 2017. The potential candidates who responded to the call for tenders are the Italian-Japanese Ansaldo - Hitachi, the Spanish CAF and the Franco-Canadian duo Alstom - Bombardier. In the end, it was this Franco-Canadian duo that was selected.

The first trainsets could be put into service from 2024, Île-de-France Mobilités (formerly STIF) having asked the Autonomous Parisian Transport Authority (RATP) to speed up the replacement of the trains on lines 3 bis, 7 bis and 10.
