Mary-Rose Papandrea is best-known for her work in academia regarding media and constitutional law. She has written several articles that have been published across many law schools, including Duke, University of Chicago, and University of Michigan, and she co-wrote a textbook entitled "Media and the Law, Second Edition." Papandrea has also spoken and moderated at conferences, podcasts, and events nationwide on a wide-range of topics, such as academic freedom under the First Amendment, national security, and citizen journalism.

Currently, she serves as the Samual Ashe Distinguished Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of North Carolina School of Law]. Starting next year, she will be the Inaugural Holder of the Burchfield Professorship of First Amendment and Free Speech Law at the George Washington University Law School].
