MaXXXine is an upcoming horror film written and directed by Ti West. It will be the final installment in the X trilogy, currently consisting of the bloody slashers Pearl and X. Mia Goth, who also serves as an executive producer, will reprise her role as Maxine Minx. As the only survivor of the violent acts of X, the aspiring actress sets out for fame and success in 1980s Los Angeles.

Premise[edit]

After surviving the events of X, Maxine Minx has moved to Los Angeles in 1985 to become a famous actress.

Cast[edit]

Production[edit]

MaXXXine was announced with a one-minute teaser after the premiere of Pearl at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. It opens with a cityscape of L.A., as a snippet of “Obsession” by Animotion plays in the background. The camera slowly moves toward the Hollywood sign, which says “Maxxxine” instead. Ideas for a third movie were said to develop while the other two films were being produced. In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, West says MaXXXine will be more of an “evolution of character”, in a similar style as Pearl. As a sequel to X, it will also expand on the themes set down previously. The director states, "Yes, you have met Maxine. It is a continuation of Maxine, but she is at a very different point in her life. It’s going to be an interesting thing to catch up with her when we do, and to see Mia Goth in yet another way."
