Famous Works[edit]

Sanya Phoenix Tower[edit]

Co-designed by Ma Long and Yang Liuqing, Sanya Phoenix Tower locates at Phoenix Valley, Sanya, Hainan Province China. The total site area is 2000 sqm, and it is 60m in height. The main body--wedding hall is 300 sqm, 20m tall and it can accommodate 120 guests.

Patrik Schumacher, director of Zaha Hadid Architects, member of Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), president of John Portman & Associates, Inc, professor of Architecture Institute of Design and Research, Harvard University comments like this, "Sanya Phoenix Tower presents an unconventional modeling experience, and there exists certain degree of difficulty in its construction. The wedding hall, a viewing chamber that can accommodate 120 guests, is of simple fashion. Such a complex design without extra high-tech support is more for pure aesthetic purpose. Though form and visual representation should not be achieved as the sacrifice of the actual function, the Chinese people's spiritual aspiration on wedding, which is also a main function, is fully represented in the tower."[6]
