MacCollies Corporation

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The MacCollies Corporation is a fictional 'space travel' company in the science-fiction setting originally presented in three science fiction novels first published between 1990 and 2001. The original series was written by Dennis E. Smirl.

Premise of the setting[edit]

The books formed a connected space-opera series, describing the far-future history of mankind's expansion into the galaxy. In the novels, the MacCollies Corporation, because they were both a private company, and because they invented the first real use-able space drive, effectively 'owned' space travel. The books did not spend much time explaining the drive, but just threw it our to the reader as accepted fact. Any company or organisation that wished to share in the future of inter-stellar travel were forced to pay homage and full copyright fees to MacCollies. Effectively the company had become "BIG SPACE", and incurred both credit and hatred for its position.

The Evolution of the Brand[edit]

The original three books were written by Dennis E. Smirl in the 1990s, and resurrected in 2015 in a new adventure series, set far later in time. All the original books are currently available, or often to be found through auction sites or used booksellers.

The Original Three Books[edit]

The original three books are:

The Star-Eater Chronicles[edit]

A 2015-2016 collaboration, The Star-Eater Chronicles tell the story of MacCollies scout, Seth Gingko. He is tasked with getting his scout ship to the edge of the galaxy, and in doing so meets an alien armada intent on conquering the home galaxy. The series is a collection of 8 novellas, bound into two novels.

The Early Years[edit]

It was decided that after spending so many years 'not' knowing the actual history of the MacCollies Corporation, an attempt should be made to provide readers with this early story.

The Mind-Drive[edit]

"The Mind Drive" is a new Young Adult novel, set after The Star-Eater series, in 2617. The MacCollies Space Academy is recruiting its new yearly intake. Due for publication, Summer 2017.
