Mac Tonight Party
Mac Tonight Party was a McDonald's promotion done in Hong Kong starting in 2009, around the end of the 2006–2010 Mac Tonight ad campaign.[1][unreliable source] There were three different Mac Tonight Parties held: a Mac Tonight Birthday Party, Welcome Party, Farewell Party, and a Graduation Party.
History
The "Mac Tonight Party" promotion was started during the 2006–2010 Mac Tonight Campaign. Hello Kitty released three party exclusive plush toys in collaboration with Mac Tonight Party as part of a series in collaboration with McDonald's Hong Kong.[2] Many pieces of party exclusive merchandise were released throughout the promotion, with new selections often added each year, as well as old selections being removed. [3]
Early in the promotion, during the parties, they would often have an employee dressed as Mac Tonight using the walk-around costume from 2008/09.[4]
A new art style was used for this promotion, which included a new design for Mac Tonight. The new design of Mac Tonight features a limited color palette of yellow, blue, and white, and has a disembodied crescent moon head adorned with a pair of star-shaped sunglasses, stylized arms, and a top hat.
Alongside Mac Tonight is an unnamed star character. This star character wears a bow tie and a pair of sunglasses shaped like the number 24, likely in reference to McDonald's being open 24 hours.
In 2017, Mac Tonight Party stopped using Mac Tonight in the promotion, although they retained the name Mac Tonight Party.[5] After 2019, the Mac Tonight Party promotion was discontinued.
