Maceo Javan Smedley III (born February 07, 2007) is an American actor. His biggest breakthrough was his hit role in Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger (TV series) (2018), which is an American superhero series based on the Marvel Comics characters (goes by the similar name, Clock & Dagger), created for Freeform by Joe Pokaski. He is also known for his role as young slave named James in the television series Underground (2016), Deavon Washington on All About The Washingtons (2018), and Alex on Disney’s Noelle (2019).
Early Life[edit]
Maceo J. Smedley III was born in Houston, Texas on February 7, 2007. He was raised by his father, Maceo Weldon Smedley, and mother, Shante Smedley who runs a daycare. He has one younger sibling, David Smedley. He grew up in a religious household with his father being a pastor.
Career[edit]
Maceo, at a very young age started his acting. He has signed with Pastorini Bosby Talent in the year 2012, and got his first commercial break. His first major role was on Underground (TV series), created by Joe Pokaski on WGN America, featuring him as James, Ernestine’s youngest child in 2016.[1] In the same year he also made a guest appearance on the television show The Night Shift, where he played Charles, young boy who loses his mother amid a crowd of protestors. The major break came in April 2017, when he was selected by show creator Joe Pokaski to play younger Tyrone Johnson, alongside lead Aurbrey Joseph, in Marvel’s comic series Clock & Dagger). [2][3] He was featured in episodes First Light, Suicide Sprints, Stained Glass and Ghost Stories in Season one and B Sides in Season two. He has also played a role of Papa Legba in Rabbit Hold in Season Two of Clock & Dagger. In 2018 Maceo played the youngest of Joey and Justine Washington’s (Joseph Simmons and Justine Simmons) four children in All About The Washingtons on Netflix.[4] Maceo will play Alex on Disney’s Noelle (2019)(also known as Nicole) as a young boy who is questioning his Christmas spirit due to his waning belief in Santa Clause.[5] [6]
