History[edit]

Made Trade was founded in 2018 by Cayley Pater and Andy Ives in Portland, Oregon as an online ethical lifestyle brand and retailer. Made Trade CEO Cayley Pater got the idea for the company while she was working in ethical fashion at a fair trade non-profit, A Child’s Cup Full Association, managing two brands, Darzah and Zeki Learning. She credits starting Made Trade to her observation that the US market lacked a centralized online destination to shop curated, well designed, ethically sourced, fair trade and artisan-made products made with sustainable materials. [1]

All products on Made Trade are vetted by their team to ensure they are responsibly sourced from makers and artisans in the United States and around the world. Made Trade states their objective is to provide full transparency about each product they carry, crafted by independent small batch manufacturers. Made Trade is a member of One Percent for the Planet. [2]
