Maffian is the first extended play by Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayo Maff. It was released on 15 August 2024, distributed by Empire.[1][2]
Background and release
In 2024, Ayo Maff gained international recognition for featuring Fireboy DML on the song "Dealer".[3][4] Following this fame, Ayo Maff released Maffian featuring seven songs with no collaborations.[5]
Critical reception
In a review for OkayAfrica, they wrote that "Now, this storyteller of street realities has released MAFFIAN, a play on his sobriquet. A collection of seven songs, it thrives mainly on Maff’s revelatory perspective and his vocal strength, proving himself a worthy descendant of the Lagos street hop tradition."[6]
In an article for P.M. News, Taiwo Okanlawon said "his assurance about being predestined for greatness also manifests".[7]
