Magnus Gunnarsson
Magnus Gunnarsson (born 10 November 1986) is an Icelandic artist, songwriter and record producer living in Los Angeles. He got his recognition in 2018 with his summer single "Summer Nights" which reached the top charts of Icelandic biggest radio station. Magnus studied music and played instruments from a young age as well as writing songs. He seeks inspiration in multiple genres and through Icelandic music from where he grew up. He studied Music Production at Los Angeles Recording School in Los Angeles where he excelled and graduated with Summa Cum Laude. Magnus is currently working on Electronic dance music under the artist name Amoji.

Career beginnings[edit]
Magnus Gunnarsson was raised in Kopavogur, Iceland. His first passion was sports but Magnus played 6 times for the Icelandic National team in tennis.[1]. Magnus also had a passion for music and started writing and playing music from an early age.
After his retirement from tennis, Magnus moved to Los Angeles, California where he got a degree in Music Production from Los Angeles Recording School.
2018-present: No Place Like Home and Amoji[edit]
On January 7th 2018 Magnus published his first single “No Place Like Home” [2] under his own name, Magnus Gunnarsson [3]. The song was written and produced by Magnus but engineered by a Grammy winning engineer, Joel Numa [4]. A music video for the song was released the same day, January 7th 2018. The music video features drone videos from both Iceland and California shot by Airborne Works [5].
On January 25th 2018 Magnus released his second single "We Were on a Road" [6]. A music video for the song was released on February 14 2018 [7].
On April 28th 2018 Magnus released his song "If Today Makes Tomorrow All Right" [8]. The song is written by Magnus and his father, Gunnar Finnbjornsson. Gunnar wrote the majority of the melody when he was 20 years old, about 40 years ago. Magnus then finished writing the song by adding the bridge and parts of the lyrics to the song. The biggest challenge for Magnus writing the song was coming up with the lyrics for the second verse but everything else came naturally [9].
On June 14th 2018 Magnus released his last single "Summer Nights" ft. Lilja Eivor [10][11]. The song was written by Magnus and produced by Magnus and Arnar Gudjonsson. The song was also engineered by Arnar Gudjonsson, but Arnar has produced and engineered songs for the Icelandic band Kaleo_(band). Summer Nights reached the top charts of Icelandic biggest radio station, Rás 2 and stayed for over 4 weeks on the charts. A visual video was released the same day.
Magnus's debut album, which has the same title as his first single “No Place Like Home” was released on August 26th 2018 [12][13][14]. The songs from the album are all written and produced by Magnus.
Magnus is currently working on his Electronic dance music under the artist name Amoji. On July 26th 2019 Magnus released the single "You I We" under the artist name Amoji [15] [16]. A lyric video was released the same day [17]
On August 30th 2019 Magnus released his second single "Where I Wanna Be" as Amoji.
Personal life[edit]
In 2015, Magnus moved from Iceland to Los Angeles, California.
