Mahat Salah
Mahat Salah is a Kenyan Somali pharmacist, healthcare professional, and administrator currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Garissa County Teaching and Referral Hospital (GCTRH).[1]
Early Life and Education
Mahat Salah holds a Master of Science in Healthcare Management (MHM) from the University of Unicaf Zambia. He also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Systems Management from the same institution.[2]
Career
With over 30 years of experience in the healthcare sector, Mahat Salah has been actively involved in healthcare administration and policy implementation.
Prior to his appointment as CEO, he served as the hospital administrator at Garissa County Teaching and Referral Hospital.[3]
In 2024, he was appointed by Garissa County Governor Nathif Jama to lead GCTRH as its Chief Executive Officer.[4]
Between 2017 and 2022, he served as the Chief Officer for Trade in Garissa County under former Governor Ali Korane.[5]
Other Roles
Mahat Salah is a co-founder and co-partner of the Regional Intra-Health Initiative (RIHI-AFRICA), where he served as the Acting CEO. The organization focuses on regional healthcare initiatives and policies aimed at strengthening health systems in Africa.[6]
