Captain (retd) Mahfuz Alam Beg was a freedom fighter in 1971's liberation war of Bangladesh. He was a Sub-sector Commander in Sector -9. But he was very prominent in many districts for his courage and leadership in the battlefield during the war. He became known as Captain Beg among the people, trained up men and women, and he deployed them successfully in guerrilla attack on Pakistan forces. In addition, he formed and led Hardcore Sergeants forces for performing guerrilla attacks. He was in Pakistan but he left the job and came back home in March 1971 to join the movement of the people.
