Mai Ishiwatari (born 1977) 石渡 真維, is a Japanese lawyer. She is a partner at Shiroyama Tower Law Office. She is a director and CLO (Chief Legal Officer) of cocone Corporation, an IT company, and a representative director of Cocone Education Co.[1]
She is also an outside director of Cacao Piccoma Co.
Outline/Personality[edit]
She was born in Yamanashi Prefecture, graduated from Sophia University Faculty of Law and passed the bar exam in 2000 at the age of 23. She graduated from the Legal Training and Research Institute in September 2002 (55th term).
She registered as a lawyer in October of the same year. Since then, she has built up her experience in addition to working at law firms in Japan, and she has also worked as a registered foreign lawyer at Rajah & Tann Asia, a leading law firm in Singapore (she returned to Japan in 2014).
While practicing law, she also served as a visiting professor at Toin University of Yokohama Law School and a lecturer at Kokugakuin University Law School.
She mainly handles corporate and general civil matters, however since 2014, she has been involved in many management activities within companies.
From 2007 to 2011, she appeared on a TV program, "Legal Counseling Center with Queues".[2][3]
She married a civilian man in February 2011. In July 2011, she left "Legal Counseling Center with Queues" due to her husband's transfer to Singapore. She moved her base of activities to Singapore and transferred to Rajah & Tann Asia.
While traveling back and forth between Singapore and Japan, she was engaged in legal work related to Japanese companies' investment in Singapore and investment in Myanmar via Singapore.[4] After more than ten years of legal experience, she returned to Japan in 2014 and joined an IT company, cocone Corporation.
In 2014, she became a director of the company. After working as a business manager, she is currently the general director of the back office.
Since 2017, she has also been the representative director of Cocone Education, a subsidiary of cocone Co.[5]
She is in charge of the management of International Montessori Mirai Kindergarten, which opened in April 2017.[6][5]
In 2021, she was appointed as an outside director of Kakao piccoma Corp., which operates the manga app Piccoma.
