Main Line Method

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Main Line Method is a band from Downingtown, Pennsylvania. The band consists of just Tim Develin and Henry Sappey, although most of their works are multi-instrument pieces (Tim playing drums and bass, Henry playing rhythm and lead guitars). The name comes from the Philadelphia area "Main Line" which comprises many suburbs of Philadelphia, such as Wayne, Malvern, and Tim's birthplace, Bryn Mawr.

About[edit]

History[edit]

Tim and Henry met in Downingtown Middle School in 6th grade and have been friends since. The first incarnation of a band was a band called The Purple Doors which also included their friends Patrick and Dan. This band competed in their 8th grade talent show with the song Scar Tissue by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and finished in third place.[1] After leaving Middle School, Tim and Henry attended Downingtown High School West while Patrick and Dan attended Downingtown STEM Academy. Because of this, the band fell apart, with all of the members staying in contact with one another, but no longer playing music together due to schedule conflicts. After graduating from high school in June 2016,[2] Tim and Henry went off to college (Tim to Delaware County Community College, and Henry to Monmouth University). In May 2017, Tim wanted to play some music with Henry, so Henry went over to his house one day with his guitar and amp. Tim had been working on a bass and drum line (what would soon become their song The Method) and decided to just see if Henry could make something up. To Tim's surprise, Henry made a guitar line almost on the spot and they decided to record it using Tim's Tascam Portastudio 464. From that day forward, they would frequently get together on Mondays and Wednesdays to write and record more music.

On 15 September 2017, Main Line Method released their first EP, Fluid Dynamics on Bandcamp for free or donation, while offering paid physical-copies (CD or Tape). The EP has nine tracks with one bonus track for a total of ten, all together lasting roughly 30 minutes. The EP has gathered about 415 plays on bandcamp since its release to mid-January 2018, with Friend Zone (I'm Always in the) being the most popular at 165 plays. The download also features a completely custom digital pamphlet made by Tim Develin including all equipment used for the making of the album, along with personnel, and some bonus artwork made by Tim.[3]
