Maja Spencer (February 3, 1983., Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia), is a Serbian writer, jazz singer and songwriter.

Personal life and education[edit]

Spencer was born on February 3, 1983 in Sremska Mitrovica (Serbia). She is of Polish, Macedonian and Serbian descent. Her father is a lawyer and her mother is a painter.

Maja Spencer finished highschool in Sremska Mitrovica, after which she moved to Belgrade to study Political Sciences. She graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations.[1] As she was growing up during the wars in Yugoslavia, those events affected her. In one interview she stated: "War is the worst thing that can happen to a state… Life during the war can ruin a man and can leave permanent scars. However, war can toughen a man and force him to reassess his morality and ethics. If you don't become a bad person after going through that, then you will never become a bad person".

During her student years, Spencer was interested in psychopathology, sociology and psychology and those fields are present in her books. Spencer is known for extreme research she conducts for her books.

According to her interviews she is not a member of any political or religious group.

She is fluent in the English and Spanish languages.

Musical career[edit]

Maja Spencer is an active jazz singer and a songwriter. She writes and performs her own music. All her songs are being on air worldwide. Song "Just a dream" is a result of cooperation with Sonos Studio from Andorra.[5] In 2018 Spencer was awarded a Monarch recognition, Obaland Awards under the international category of “Obaland Royal Awards – Honor” as Best Inspiring author, Best Serbian singer.[6][7] alongside numerous mainstream musicians, like Queen Ifrica, Jah Cure, Chronixx, Capleton, Damian Marley, Shatta Wale, Ziggy Marley, Busy Signal, Sean Paul and others.
