Majority Plus

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Majority Plus was a Merseybeat band primarily active in the 1960s. The group originally formed in Huyton, Liverpool, United Kingdom. They most famously performed in the original Cavern Club in Liverpool and were honoured with a prestigious brick on Matthew Street, Liverpool.

History

Taking inspiration from their contemporaries in The Beatles and the wider Merseybeat movement, a group of friends decided to form their own band. Colin Fitzgibbon was made the lead vocalist and keyboardist, Frederick Allan Attwood acted as vocalist and played rhythm guitar, John played harmony and lead guitar, Aaron was the bass player, and Les became the drummer. The group's original name was The Majority; however, after performing at a local youth centre one night, they were mobbed by screaming fans. This turned out to be due to a misunderstanding over another band of the same name, as the music magazine Melody Maker carried a half-page write-up about The Majority with their latest release "I'm a Man". The name was quickly rectified, and the band became known as Majority Plus.[1]

The group performed in several venues, namely youth clubs, bars, and pubs, including the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool, like their contemporary peers The Beatles.
