PT Maju Lancar Prima is a Indonesian bus company originating from Gunungkidul Regency, Yogyakarta. The head office and bus garage are located at Jalan Wonosari–Yogyakarta km 2.3, Siyono Hamlet, Logandeng Village, Kapanéwon, Playen, Gunungkidul Regency. This bus is one of the prides of the Gunungkidul community, because it claims to be the only bus company group specializing in intercity and interprovincial services established in this regency.

History

Maju Lancar was founded by Soetrisno and Sri Hartati in 1986. Seeing the growing development of the land transportation business, along with their passion for transportation and automotive, encouraged them to enter the transportation sector.[1]

Initially, Maju Lancar operated with only two buses serving the Wonosari–Yogyakarta intercity bus route. However, in 1991, Maju Lancar successfully opened an intercity, interprovincial route from Wonosari to Jakarta. Transportation opportunities on this route were significant due to the large number of migrants from Gunungkidul Regency who settled in Jakarta and its surroundings. Furthermore, at that time, there were not many intercity transportation services serving the Jakarta-Gunungkidul route. [1]

The 1997 Asian financial crisis caused Maju Lancar to experience a downturn. In addition to soaring maintenance costs, passenger numbers also dropped drastically. However, Soetrisno managed to weather these difficult times. Between 1998 and the early 2000s, Maju Lancar increased its bus fleet to 64 units and opened new routes, such as Wonosari–Palembang and Wonosari–Bandung. Maju Lancar also offers intercity and interprovincial express bus services under the name Citra Adi Lancar, as well as tourism services with the Rahma Wisata bus.[1][2]

Soetrisno served as Regent of Pacitan from 2000–2005 and is known to be the first regent from civil society. On November 4, 2021, Soetrisno passed away at JIH Hospital, leaving behind four children who continue the Maju Lancar business. [2]

Maju Lancar is easily recognized by its white paint scheme with green stripes. Maju Lancar is known for frequently using a variety of old chassis and bodies, and is fond of remodeling them (facelifts and rebodies) to "rejuvenate" its fleet.[3]

The most luxurious class of Maju Lancar is Maju Lancar Home. The bodywork used is Adi Putro Jetbus3+ HDD Voyager and is supported by a Mercedes-Benz OH 1526 chassis. The paint pattern of this bus is different from the regular Maju Lancar, with a dominant black base color. The interior of this bus is equipped with LED lights that give a festive impression, and has luxurious facilities like a mobile home, including spacious seats with a 2+1 configuration, leather sofas, TVs, massage chairs, mini pantry, toilet, and bedrooms.[4]

All buses in the Maju Lancar business group are registered using license plate AB 7xxx D*. The Maju Lancar business group (including Citra Adi Lancar and Rahma Wisata) claims to be the only intercity, interprovincial bus company originating from Gunungkidul Regency. Furthermore, Prasetyo added, that Maju Lancar was founded not only to provide affordable transportation for the people of Gunungkidul, but also to participate in the development of Gunungkidul Regency. According to him, the motor vehicle tax paid annually will flow into the local revenue of Gunungkidul Regency.[1]
