From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Makaru Nakanishi (仲西 眞苅, Nakanishi Makaru, December 15, 1901 – February 28, 2013) was a Japanese farmer and supercentenarian, and survivor of the Battle of Okinawa, in which his daughter was killed and he injured. He worked at a military base as waterworker for ten years after World War II, and thereafter as farmer.[1]

Nakanishi became the second-oldest living Japanese man, behind Jiroemon Kimura who then was the only living Japanese male supercentenarian for 95 days until Nakanishi's 110th birthday, on September 11, 2011 when Tanekichi Onishi from Hokkaido died at age 111 years, 208 days.

On September 12, 2012, after 114-year-old Kame Nakamura's death, Nakanishi became the oldest person born and living in Okinawa.[citation needed]

Nakanishi died of natural causes at 5.30am the morning of February 28, 2013, at age 111 years, 75 days.[1] His funeral, with his grandson Jun as mourner, was held 4.00pm to 4.30pm the afternoon of March 2.[1]
